Scope and Contents: The collection comprises manuscript diaries, letters, and drawings by James Forbes, and portrait prints compiled by James Forbes. At the heart of the collection are thirteen volumes documenting Forbes's travels in India, each of which contains numerous original drawings as well as transcriptions of letters originally composed while Forbes was abroad, with a particular concentration on the natural history of India.
