Deuteronomy 27
Peshitta Holy Bible Translated Par ▾
And Moshe and the Elders of Israel commanded the people and they said to them: “Keep all of the commandments that I command you today. 2In the day that you pass over the Jordan to the land that LORD JEHOVAH your God gives to you raise great stones for yourselves and plaster them with plaster: 3And write on them all of the words of this written Law when you have passed over, when you enter the land that LORD JEHOVAH your God gives to you, the land flowing with milk and honey, as LORD JEHOVAH the God of your fathers said to you. 4And whenever you have crossed the Jordan, raise these stones, that I command you today, in the mountain of Gabel and plaster them with plaster. 5And build there an altar to LORD JEHOVAH your God, an altar of stones and do not lift up iron on them. 6But build the altar of LORD JEHOVAH your God with whole stones and offer up burning peace offerings upon it before LORD JEHOVAH your God: 7And sacrifice peace offerings and eat there and rejoice before LORD JEHOVAH your God. 8And write on the stones all of the words of this Law and distinguish them well.”

And Moshe and the Priests and the Levites said to all Israel: “Pay attention and listen, Israel; today you are a nation to LORD JEHOVAH your God. 10Hear the voice of LORD JEHOVAH your God and do his commandments and his laws that I command you today.”

And Moshe commanded the people in that day and said to them: 12“These will stand on the mountain of Garzim for the blessing of the people when you have crossed the Jordan: Shemon and Levi and Yehuda and Issakar and Yoseph and Benyamin: 13And these will arise to curse in the mountain of Gabel: Rubil and Gad and Ashir and Zabulon and Dan and Naphtali. 14And they shall answer and they shall say to all the people of Israel in a loud voice,

‘Cursed is the man who will make carved or smelted images, for they are defiled before LORD JEHOVAH, the work of the hands of a carpenter, and shall put it in a secret place; and all the people shall answer and they shall say, “Amen.”

Cursed is he who insults his father or his mother, and all the people shall say,”Amen.”

Cursed is he who will move the border of his neighbor, and all the people shall say, “Amen.”

Cursed is one who will disregard the blind in the way, and all the people shall say, “Amen.”

Cursed is everyone who will divert the judgment of a settler or of an orphan or of a widow, and all the people shall say, “Amen.”

Cursed is everyone who will have sexual intercourse with the wife of his father and will expose the skirts of his father, and all the people shall say, “Amen.”

Cursed is everyone who will have sexual relations with any animal , and all the people shall say, “Amen.”

Cursed is everyone who will have sex with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother, and all the people shall say, “Amen.”

Cursed is everyone who will have sex with his mother in law, and all the people shall say, “Amen.”

Cursed is everyone who will strike his neighbor in secret, and all the people shall say, “Amen.”

Cursed is everyone who will take a bribe to kill the soul of innocent blood, and all the people shall say, “Amen.”

Cursed is everyone who will not affirm the words of this Law and do them, and all the people shall say, “Amen.”’
