The clothes depicted in this 1930s-era advertising blotter from bicycle manufacturer CCM (Canada Cycle and Motor Co.) may seem almost as quaint to us as the rather risqué fashion sported by their grandmother in the 1890s. The baggy knickerbockers, called "Bloomers" after women's rights activist Amelia Bloomer, were ridiculed in the media and denounced from the pulpit. Happy #biketowork month, Toronto!
