Description |
Nederlands: Fries door Constant Montald boven toneel van de schouwburg te Leuven, België. Deze fries is een tweedelige voorstelling met enerzijds "Apollo en de Muzen" (links Apollo met lier en lauwerkrans, ruggelings afgebeeld terwijl hij een strijdwagen bestijgt met ernaast negen muzen in wit kleed gehuld) en anderzijds "Orpheus die Eurydice beweent" (rechts vooraan de in wit geklede Eurydice terwijl Orpheus wenend naast haar neerknielt, verder vijf mannen waaronder twee met masker -komedie en tragedie- en drie mannen -misschien tragedieschrijvers Aischylos, Sofokles en Euripides voorstellen- terwijl uiterst rechts Orpheus' gezang, na het verlies van Eurydice, drie Thracische krijgers wist te ontroeren)
English: Painting by Constant Montald above the podium in the theatre of Leuven, Belgium. In the image are two separate scenes: "Apollo and the muses" (on the left Apollo with lyre pictured from the back while climbing onto the chariot, beside him 9 muses dressed in white) on the other side "Orpheus lamenting Euridyce" (at the front-right Eurydice in white with Orpheus kneeling beside her, crying. Then also 5 men amongst which 2 with a mask (comedy and tragedy) and three men who might be tragedy writers Aeschylus, Sophocles en Euripides. On the far right 3 Thracian warriors moved by Orpheus' lament over the loss of Eurydice. |
