This documentation is transcluded from Template:Building address/doc.

This template is intended for adding building addresses to pictures of buildings and streets in a standardized machine-readable format. The intention is to facilitate a search for all pictures of buildings at a certain address, or for building photos in a certain street, or postal code area. The parameters are the same as used in the OpenStreetMap-Project to describe addresses, with the intention to allow cross-referencing pictures to map data, and are only shown if they are filled in.
Note: For many media it is desirable to use a {{Location}} template in addition to the {{Building address}} template.

The template automatically sets the following categories:

Usage

{{Building address
 |Street name  =
 |House number =
 |Postal code  =
 |City         =
 |State        =
 |Country      =
}}

This template shall be added within the template {{Information}}, within the parameter description, at the bottom. For an example of the placement, see the following file: File:Berlin Abgeordnetenhaus 1900.jpg

House numberThe house number of the depicted building, e.g. 12c or 64, as it appears on the number plate. If several buildings are shown, list all the housenumbers, divided by Kommata, e.g. 64,66. The same goes if one building has multiple numbers. For further reference see also the OSM project page for addresses: Key:addremptyoptional
House nameIn some places like England, house names are used instead of or in addition to housenumbers. If not available, this field can be left blank. For further reference see also the OSM project page for addresses: Key:addremptyoptional
Conscription numberIn some places like Czech republic, buildings have an official conscription numbering system, instead of or in addition of house numbers. If not available, this field can be left blank. For further reference see also the OSM project page for addresses: Key:addremptyoptional
Postal codeThe postal code (ZIP code) of the area. Helps to identify the place, especially in cases were there are multiple cities/towns in one country with the same name (e.g. multiple Allendorf in Germany. For further reference see also the OSM project page for addresses: Key:addremptyoptional
CityThe name of the city/place that goes along with the postal code. For example the building is in the village of Krofdorf-Gleiberg, but the postal code area is called Wettenberg. The correct City parameter is then Wettenberg, because in the postal code area of Wettenberg, there is (usually) only one street with this particular street name. For further reference see also the OSM project page for addresses: Key:addremptyoptional
ProvinceWhen relevant, the ISO 3166-2 code of the administrative division (French département, British County etc., like "State" parameter).emptyoptional
StateWhen relevant, the name of the State in which the building address is located. The name shall be given in the language of the place (e.g. North Carolina or Niedersachsen), or better as ISO 3166-2 code (if supported, s. table below). In places without federal structure, were no applicable state entities are available, this field can be left blank. For further reference see also the OSM project page for addresses: Key:addremptyoptional
