Thanks for your cleanup of the fake Dschwen block. It was a proxy server with no other edits on Commons. .     Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 23:12, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Yann,
The images and the content I am working on is of the organization I am working with and the use of images and logo is with their permission.
So, how do I proceed in this? (P.S. I am new here)

Warm Regards, Blessin — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blessinvarkey (talk • contribs)

Hello, Yann. I uploaded mage http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Jmtindel&oldid=109562351 without copyright info. It is a company logo, and I have contacted the company to find out how they want to distribute it. I will add the appropriate tag once I have that info, or upload another copy, if it has been automatically deleted in the meantime. Thank you! --Mike (jmtindel)

Hi Yann, I tried to move the w:File:Complexity-map-overview.png from Wikipedia to Commons, but it seems you deleted this file in 2010. As far as I can see this file is original work by w:User:Bcastel3, who identified himself as Brian Castellani, sociology professor of the Kent State University, Kent Ohio. Could you explain, what I am missing here? And maybe how we could solve this? -- Mdd (talk) 15:20, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed I asked you this question 3 months ago (see here), and there was one argument back in 2010 (see here. -- Mdd (talk) 15:43, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't what's going on with this file. I restored it, and created a DR. I copied your messages there. Please comment here: Commons:Deletion requests/File:Complexity-map-overview.png. Regards, Yann (talk) 17:42, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, it seems we can work this out. I did notice the image info here on commons was incomplete, and didn't (yet) link to w:User:Bcastel3/Brian Castellani. -- Mdd (talk) 18:23, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

deleted page File:Restauro come terapia.jpg

This file, as well as all the others about "William Girometti", reproduce painting of my father, who died 15 years ago. Since I am his only heir, now that my mother died too, I have the ownership of all the paintings whose pictures I uploaded. Probably I chose the wrong licence, but I wish that people enjoy my father's paintings. I am also working to a page in Wikipedia about my father, in which also a bibliography is available. I wrote to permission-commons@wikimedia.org too. Please tell me how I may upload the file again without problems. Thank you very much, Silvia Girometti

Deleted page/photo

Dear Yann, File:Ellen_Nisbeth.jpg has been deleted. I have the rights to use this photo. See http://www.ellennisbeth.com/#!gallery/c24vq where it is clearly stated that the photos are available for PR-usage. Please make it available again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Philia85 (talk • contribs)

Unfortunately, PR-usage is not enough for us. We need a written permission for a free license. Regards, Yann (talk) 17:35, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What was this?

At Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Constanza_Lüer.jpg we have a nonsense DR, my vk stating that file is in use and then poof, it is gone. What’s going on? -- Tuválkin 20:46, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As I wrote, it was deleted by Fastily. Please ask him, or request undeletion at COM:UR. Regards, Yann (talk) 20:50, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I’m asking you: As an admin, as opposed to a clerk or a robot, do you think that the DR above was done properly? -- Tuválkin 21:56, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Whether a file is in use may be of interest if the scope is questioned. The reason for this deletion seems to be a suspected copyright violation, and here we cannot have existing use trump copyright. --Dschwen (talk) 22:04, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Where is that copyvio mentioned in the DR? -- Tuválkin 22:44, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Nowhere. It should have been. But since you are asking what that was I'm answering you: "A probable copyvio". You can read the deletion rationale here. --Dschwen (talk) 22:56, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Dschwen. My question («What was this?») was not about what was on the deleted image, but something like «what was this all about?», with «this» being the DR itself. -- Tuválkin 02:02, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(Edit conflict)

Meanwhile I read JuTa’s notice (08:32, 12 November 2013) in the uploader’s talk page. All good, then. However, this exchange should be added to the DR (out side the blue area), because other users, like me, may expect DRs to be done in a transparent, clear fashion. -- Tuválkin 22:59, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK, fine. I added "for copyright violation" in my closure comment. Yann (talk) 07:19, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Yann. Excuse me, as I am new user. You deleted the images I uploaded to Carlos León Escudero page. The images are artworks by the artist taken from the website of his gallery ( http://www.maxestrella.com/ ) and licensed by the artist for public communication with educational purposes through Wikipedia. Would it be possible, please, you undelete them? Best regards, thanks a lot. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arneb2014 (talk • contribs)

Hello,
First there is no mention on the website of a free license. "Public communication with educational purposes" is not enough for us. We need an explicite written free license from the author. See COM:OTRS for details. Regards, Yann (talk) 21:53, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, can i know why you deleted image File:Henrique Luvannor.jpg uploaded by me? I uploaded it with soccer.ru template. This template has OTRS permission for materials from this site? So, wtf?
PS, how i see, you posted (Copyright violation: http://footballhd.ru/allnews/worldcupnews/39490-v-sbornoy-moldovy-mozhet-poyavitsya-etnicheskiy-brazilec.html). But this article has only 1 month. Article from where i get image is much older. Can you see the difference? I do not violated nobody's copyright. I uploaded this image legaly. For much info see {{Soccer.ru}}. Please undelete image. --XXN (talk) 01:29, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

footballhd.ru mentions the source as "Getty Images", so I don't think it is OK. What do you think? Yann (talk) 07:13, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
soccer.ru - You can use photos only from the gallery! --ManFromNord (talk) 09:48, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wilfredor DRs

Hi, I have been looking through some past DRs and came across Commons:Deletion requests/File:Lema y yo.jpg. The deletion nomination does not appear to be a policy based reason to create a DR. Could you please add a meaningful closure statement to it? Thanks -- (talk) 03:21, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This image is completely out of scope, so it is very well within the policy. When I closed with as above, it means that I agree with the nominator (and eventually other comments). Isn't clear enough? Yann (talk) 07:05, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, no. The nomination stated "User contributions in spanish is only in her user page. Self promotion, low image quality, non enciclopedic value." I cannot see the image any more, as you have deleted it, however based on the hundreds of other DRs that Wilfredor has created over the last few days, several that you have closed by deleting, that include non-policy nominations (see list), this nomination is worth looking at again. The facts are:
  1. You make reference to your closure relating to "eventually other comments", however there is none apart from the nomination.
  2. I am not completely clear what "User contributions in spanish is only in her user page" means, however it appears to be nominating an image for deletion because one of our contributors does not use English on her user talk page. This would definitely not be a deletion rationale and would be troubling of itself.
  3. "Self promotion" is unlikely, in the list of images up for deletion this have been used to describe "selfies" and similar profile photographs which were not against policy per se. One might argue that some of these were out of scope due to possible lack of educational value, but any closing admin should make that clear.
  4. "low image quality", this would have to be bad enough to render the image out of scope to be a rationale for deletion, there are many cases in the above list where this was incorrectly mentioned in the nomination.
  5. "non enciclopedic value", this is against Commons policy and no DR closure should agree with this as a deletion rationale.
Please amend your closure to explain the reasons you chose to delete the image. The nomination as it stands is not something that a closing admin should just take at face value and delete the image with the comment "as above". Thanks -- (talk) 09:55, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This is a personal image (portrait with his girl friend?) of poor quality, and not used. So your points 3, 4, and 5 above cover it. I don't see where is your problem. I think that point #2 means that if the only edits of a user would in his/her user page (not the case here), it would be a rationale for deletion. This gave me the opportunity to review other files from this user. Two of them are not own work, and have at least a wrong license, and may be a copyvio. I nominated them for deletion. Yann (talk) 10:20, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please add a similar explanation to the closing statement of the DR? It is important that Administrators are not seen to support nominations on the basis of contributors writing in Spanish, or being "non-encyclopedic".
Done. Yann (talk) 11:18, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You appear to be confirming that you believe that "non-encyclopedic value" is a reason to delete images from Commons, if that is the case then we should probably continue the conversation at COM:AN so that other Administrators can provide viewpoints on how to interpret policy. Thanks -- (talk) 11:11, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
"non-encyclopedic value" doesn't mean anything in itself. You need to explain why a file would be, or not, of encyclopedic value. Yann (talk) 11:18, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No, this is a frequent and fundamental misunderstanding of scope. Specifically, Commons differs from the English Wikipedia by having a scope that includes media with educational value, this is much broader than encyclopaedic value. DRs with these sort of nominations should be either corrected or the closing statement should clarify that difference as Commons should never delete images which have an educational rationale but happen to fail to have an encyclopaedic rationale. -- (talk) 11:28, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but this seems rather semantic. I think I agree with you that Commons' scope is broader than Wikipedia's. But in this case, I don't see the point you want to make. Above I mean "educational" rather than "encyclopedic". So I rewrite my statement as "non-educational value" doesn't mean anything in itself. You need to explain why a file would be, or not, of educational value. And in this case, the image is neither educational nor encyclopedic. Yann (talk) 11:33, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The word encyclopedia comes from the Koine Greek ἐγκύκλιος παιδεία, transliterated enkyklios paideia, meaning "general education." Both words are just semantic for many. And for a Spanish speaker, there is not much meaning in sticking on the exact meaning of an English word. JKadavoor Jee 11:42, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for making the correction. Commons policies are written using words, to argue them away as being semantics is unhelpful. The same rationale of semantic equivalence can make almost any policy useless or inverted, for example you can argue that anything written on Commons can never be harassment, or that it is okay to delete all photographs of people who do not have Wikipedia biographies. Please stick to "educational" not "encyclopaedic", I do not want to waste everyone's time by asking for this to be clarified on noticeboards when our community policies are completely unambiguous. -- (talk) 12:03, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it seems simple, but it may not be. I wouldn't be surprised if Wilfredor used "encyclopaedic" when he meaned "educational", and many non-native English speakers would do too. Did you ask him? Yann (talk) 12:13, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No, the DR was closed and you had deleted the file. You are the closing admin for a DR with no comments apart from the nomination, so you must have been satisfied that Wilfredor had correctly nominated it. The only relevant action to challenge the above discrepancies was to clarify your closing statement. -- (talk) 13:16, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Même si tu as très probablement eu raison de supprimer cette photo, tu aurais quand même pu me prévenir... --TwoWings * to talk or not to talk... 14:56, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

--TwoWings * to talk or not to talk... 10:11, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't appreciate messages like this on my talk page. It's not your place to tell me if I feel an issue has been explained properly. It's not even your place to tell me to stay away from another admin's talk page. If you have a problem with anything I've done and think I need to be stopped from doing something, then take it to a community noticeboard. Don't waste my time (or indeed yours) issuing pointless warnings like that, which you must be aware will only anger the recipient. If I catch you trying to intimidate another user like this over an issue of admin accountability again, I'll be doing the same. Ultra7 (talk) 16:28, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your are wrong on all counts here. Yes, if you make problems, it is necessary to tell you. And yes, it is my work to tell you to stop bothering others. Nobody appreciate your bashing. Please stop. This is the last warning. Regards, Yann (talk) 16:33, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Your 'warning' was read and deleted - do not restore it again. This is your last warning to stay off my talk page - it is totally unacceptable for you to be reverting my talk page to restore messages I have read [1]. It's also pretty stupid to be posting this same message here, and then again on my talk page. I frankly don't care what you appreciate or not - if you think I cause problems, If you think you have a case, take it to a noticeboard. If you continue to try and intimidate users, I will report you. Ultra7 (talk) 16:41, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You really need to calm down, this behaviour is ridiculous. You are badgering people and it is getting on everyone's nerves. -mattbuck (Talk) 16:48, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Again about deleted files with William Girometti's paintings (e.g. Restauro_come_terapia.jpg)

Hi Yann, sorry for bothering you again about the same topic. I would just like to ask you whether there is anything I can do while I am waiting, in order to support my request about the images being restored (request sent to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org about a week ago). Thank you very much again and best regards, Silvia Girometti — Preceding unsigned comment added by Silvia Girometti (talk • contribs)

Hello Yann, I added permission in the file: did I put it in the right place? And shall I do the same for all the other files you are restoring? Thank you so much, Silvia — Preceding unsigned comment added by Silvia Girometti (talk • contribs)

LSU shield

Yann,

Thank you for the reply regarding the LSU shield. I'm sure it's copyrighted similar to the University of Michigan "M", but it's not a big deal for me if it's removed. I thought it was an interesting picture from the stadium gate, so I took the picture. I'm actually writing to thank you for how you respond to my request to have it undeleted. It gave an explanation and also useful information. There are people who edit that give no explanation and decide to delete regardless of explanation or discussion. They do it in a rude fashion and actually harass and attack contributors. Your response was greatly appreciated. spatms (User talk:spatms) 10:23, 23 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

PermissionOTRS

Done. I added {{tl|PermissionOTRS|id=2013111610010253|Darkwind}} in all files where it has not been added yet, and put my father's name in "Author" (however not in "User") as you wrote. Am I allowed to delete all {{OTRS pending|year=2013|month=November|day=19}} or {{OTRS pending|year=2013|month=November|day=22}}? And, last but not least, should I upload any image more of the same kind, which is the rightest way for doing it? Thank you so much again for everything and kind regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Silvia Girometti (talk • contribs)

May I ask you what do you think of the changes I made to File:Senza_titolo_11.JPG before I make changes to all files? I do appreciate your suggestions very much, and hope having done in the right way, however it is not really easy to put a subject (in description?) for surrealistic works (at least some of them). Thanks for looking into this. Of course, many of these images are promotional, and are not interesting for Commons. You need to select them. Think what could be used in Wikipedia. I think that providing an English description would make a huge difference about their possible use on Wikimedia. At least I think that images of sports ([2]), some electronics ([3], [4]), and some portraits ([5]) would be in scope. Regards, Yann (talk) 08:16, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Going to upload them..... --레비ReviD✉CM 08:19, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. These images looks quite nice. Any way, I don't think they meet any criteria for speedy deletion, especialy because they are QI or VI. Please open a regular DR. Regards, Yann (talk) 11:05, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Photo wrongly deleted

The file File:Alopekis_wirehaired.jpg was wrongly deleted. I am the original author of this photograph. It was published in my magazine in Greece (publications no longer active) and subsequently used and reproduced by many authors, with my permission, in articles about the Alopekis breed. It is also included in the article of the Greek wiki that I authored: el:Αρχείο:Alopekis_wirehaired.jpg and carries a FREE licence.

The file was wrongly deleted. I am the author of both articles and of the photo. I wish the photo re-instated.

Thank you Fainomenon (talk) 18:57, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Since this was previously published, we need a formal permission. Meanwhile, I restored the image and created a proper deletion request: Commons:Deletion requests/File:Alopekis wirehaired.jpg. Please send a permission, or it will be deleted again. Thanks, Yann (talk) 19:13, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yann, I need this file restored: File:Diane Gaidry with her dog Yatahey.jpg - It has the copyright tag on it, and I took this file from the site this person owns ( the person who is the subject of this wikipedia article) and I'm acting on her behalf. There's no specific content use section on this site, so images can be re-used freely. Can you restore this file soon, or what is it exactly that has to be done, to have this image restored? Regarding File:Joseph F. Smith family.png

You closed Commons:Deletion requests/File:Joseph F. Smith family.png/2.

I'm sorry but you are 100% incorrect. Commons is very very clear. Any image that the author is unknown has to be 120 years old not 99 (see template:PD-US-unpublished. Even the source of the original image says that the image is Copyrighted. See: here] it reads "Patron Usage Instructions: c2002 Brigham Young University. All rights reserved. Except as provided above, or any use beyond what is allowed by fair use (Title 17, Section 107 U.S.C.).

How can you say there is no doubt that the image is Public Domain if there is no proof of publication prior to 1923, Author is unknown and the original source says it's copyrighted? If you don't believe me ask another administrator like Fastily. I known I'm right becuses when I first started uploading images about 10 got deleted due to this very issue.--ARTEST4ECHO talk 20:11, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
I am sorry, but you are wrong. {{PD-US-unpublished}} is for unpublished works. Anonymous works published before 1923 are in the public domain in USA. The source of the image is not a proof of the copyright itself. In this case, it is called copyfraud. Regards, Yann (talk) 20:18, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File renaming unsuccessful in de-Wikibooks

Hi, some days ago you tried to rename a file in b:de:Das Schreiblernbuch/ Bilderalphabet h. Unfortunately the Abusefilter 11 prevented this change. By analyzing the filter conditions I found out that the sequence color:#ffffff was detected as vandalism as well as normal text fffff or any similar "keyboard test". Now I improved the filter conditions to reject this "false positive" check. -- Juetho (talk) 11:48, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Juetho, Sorry, but I don't know which file you are talking about. Are you sure that it was me? Yann (talk) 11:54, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
b:de:Special:AbuseLog/1906 told me that you tried to change File:25-08-2008 002.JPG(FELIPE MOSTARDA SP BRASIL.JPG to File:25-08-2008 Conde Prates Building SP Brasil.jpg (16:32, 4 Dec. 2013 CET) but you weren't able to do so. You renamed this file at Commons; then CommonsDelinker changed at 16:36, 4 Dec. 2013 CET. My intention to store this message was to inform you why the abusefilter prevented your change. Everything's alright now. -- Juetho (talk) 13:50, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Yann, I have uploaded this file to-day and I don't know what to do to get the necessary license. The file was found on the net, but if it's not publishable, I don't really mind if it's removed, although, of course, I'd rather we could keep it as it beautifully illustrates the last section of my article on Dickens's American Notes (Notes américaines). Thanks for your advice and help. Best wishes, --RF sub tegmine fagi (talk) 20:48, 7 December 2013 (UTC) (Robert Ferrieux).[reply]

Images on wikipedia

Is it important for the images uploaded on wikipedia to be clicked by the editor? I recently came across some good quality images on a blog that suited an article I was editing but they were removed though I mentioned the site I was sourcing it from. I didn't know the work was copyrighted or not. I don't know how to show an image's license or the page where it's creator states that the image can be used by anybody. I have removed the images from the articles and they will be deleted after 8 days or so due to improper sourcing by me. So can I remove the copyright status messages from my talk page? Since I am not a professional photographer or someone who can produce an image's license from the page I sourced it from, will I never be able to upload an image at wikipedia? OTRS permissions

Dear Yann, In continuation of your intimation regarding the need for a written permission to OTRS for use and undeletion of following files, I am informing you that, written permission from respective authors, publishers and websites have been sourced and mailed to OTRS permissions address. I hope these merit Wikipedia's expectations and the following files find speedy "undeletion" or removal from "impending deletion" lists.

File:Deevitigegalu by S. R. Ramaswamy.jpg, File:"Nagarikathegala Sangharsha" by S. R. Ramaswamy.jpg, File:Oswald Spengler on Indian Culture by Dr S.Srikanta Sastri.pdf and File:Geopolitics of India and Greater India by S. Srikanta Sastri.jpg.

With best regards --Rkkrupa (talk) 08:15, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, hopefully this permission is OK. BTW, our rules are made to protect creators, and are not intimation. If your permission is right, you should be satisfied. Regards, Yann (talk) 08:26, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning the picture I uploaded, it refers to something happened on 5 september 1943 in the Netherlands, more than 70 years ago. To help you to understand, this is the wikipedia page in English: en:Dolle Dinsdag. I did not find any info about the author. So according to the EU rules about copyright it should be free to be pubblished: 70 years after the shot was taken if the author is unknown. The picture was downloaded from this website: Lis Neighborhood Rotterdam. If you feel that there is a violation of copyright, feel free to delete it, just let me know. Cheers Hypergio (talk) 20:30, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

PS I am quite sure that in the info I associated to the image i put the mentioned website as source, that the author was unknown and the picture was taken on 5 sep 1943. Sorry if I miss to put any of these info. Cheers again. Hypegio.
@Hypergio: Hello,
First, there is a problem about the date: in the image description, it is "5 September 1943", but in the article, it is "5 September 1944". I understand that the later is correct.
Unfortunately, this could only be in the public domain 70 years, after its publication, which would be on 1st January 2015, supposing that it was published in 1944, right after this event.
Last, you forget to add a license. Regards, Yann (talk) 06:44, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry... I made a mistake. You are right, the correct date is 1944. I will upload the image again the next year. And sorry for not putting the license... Even if I reachead a good level in different wiki projects, I am still new (not even 6 months) and I can make mistakes. I am going to delete the link from it:Dolle Dinsdag, so if it is in your power, delete the image imediately. Cheers Hypergio (talk) 18:01, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Done, added in Category:Undelete in 2015. Regards, Yann (talk) 18:53, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello.  Please undelete this page; it is not an orphaned talk page, but an archive of Commons talk:Licensing (see link in bot archive box).  The project space page was no doubt added later by the drive-by editor.  Thank you.    Xeriphas1994 (talk) 05:02, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, not in the PD, and not in URAA either. See Commons:Deletion requests/File:MKGandhi.jpg. Yann (talk) 18:11, 15 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I see. And File:MKGandhi.jpg redirects now. All the histories of article show the new image, instead of a redlink. That's probably why i couldn't locate it easily. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 07:00, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

JLPC (talk) 17:30, 15 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@JLPC : Bonsoir,
Cordialement, Yann (talk) 17:44, 15 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This DR

I did file a separate DR on this image by the uploader and he still says to keep in the DR above. Could you make a comment in the DR? PS: I also filed a flickr unfree message on the uploader's talkpage to tell him that images with a non-Commercial restriction is not OK. But he still thinks its acceptable in the above DR where the image has an NC restriction. As for the speedy delete, I thought the UAE image has major FOP issues--and it was not in use--so perhaps a speedy delete was OK in this case. That is why I did not file this DR. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 00:03, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@Leoboudv: As a principle, pictures taken by Commons contributors which have no-FOP issues should not be speedy deleted. Another admin will close it in due time. Regards, Yann (talk) 09:05, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Thank you for telling me about this rule for pictures taken by Commons contributors with no non-FOP issues. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 10:24, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Leoboudv: Speedy deletion nominations should only be used for "obvious copyright violations". No-FOP issues are nearly always not that obvious. There are many factors involved: age of the depicted object, whether it is de minimis or not, etc. Yann (talk) 10:44, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This image has a big derivative poster. Perhaps you know if it should be passed or failed. Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 19:34, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure, may be the poster does not have a copyright because it is not registered. Please create a deletion request. Yann (talk) 19:54, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Avertissement Google

Amicalement--Denvis1 (talk) 16:12, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@Denvis1: Bonjour,
Dear Admin Yann,

thank you! Holger1959 (talk) 03:25, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I reached the same conclusion you did in your comment -- that the DR was a mess and I was slowly working though them.

When we get DRs like this one, I'd like to do a speedy keep and tell the nom to bring it back in pieces with a little more research. Trouble with that, though, is that the nom may not bother to bring it back, in which case the problems that are in the DR will remain on Commons. .     Jim . . . . Images de Temoudje sans licence

Bonjour,

--EdouardHue (talk) 18:24, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@EdouardHue: Oui. cf. Category:Media without a license: needs history check.

Concerning this — it was a misworded closing remark: This file should be deleted because it is a PDF, outside the narrow scope of acceptable PDF files. It is not out of scope (subject is a documentary film director mentioned in several articles of w:es), and its contents would have been accepted as in scope should they had been presented as separate images files and text in w:es. -- Tuválkin 19:40, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
