Useless, and if not, misused and misleading, so imho we shouldn't redirect it to somewhere --W!B: 09:03, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There are many images belonging to this category, and at least one gallery. A category should not be deleted as long as it has items in it...
You should at least propose a correct name or ask for a name change on the category talk page before requesting deletion I think.

nearly all images about the alps will belong inhere! .. it's designed to contain "galleries showing the alps" - in fact any article on commons is a gallery: we do not have any Category:Galleries-tree, because that is commons.wikipedia itself
what to place in there? by now it contains mainly images of mountains or mountain ranges - thats what Category:Mountain ranges of the Alps does
to what rename it? our tree for views is Category:views->Category:landscapes.. we could do ->Category:landscapes by region or Category:landscapes by mountain range -> Category:landscapes of the Alps: but that should be subdivided more precise (or nobody will find anything in there with hundreds of unsorted images of the Alps) and will become the same as Category:Mountain ranges of the Alps, or Category:Valleys of the Alps, or maybe Category:Alps of “country”, and furthermore it contains only a dozend of images that are "views" (showing some 10+ km of landscape)
the only gallery in there (really belonging there) is the main article of the mother-category: Alps
I do not see any future for a cat like that: by now it contains mainly "unsorted stuff about the alps, to get sorted later", which does main Category:Alps better

Deleted. For unsorted images there is the Category:Alps. Duplicating it, will not help sorting them. Cecil 20:16, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
