Title |
cufflink |
||
Description |
English: Post-medieval silver cufflinks, formed of two hollow dome-shaped buttons, both pressed (stamped) with a facing bust of (apparently) Charles II (r. 1660-85) within a beaded border. Soldered to the reverse of both buttons is a central silver wire attachment loop, and two piercings - one either side of the loop. The attachment loops are joined by an elongated silver wire loop, to form the cufflink. One button (that on the right) is dented and its lower edge damaged. Treasure case 2011 T587
The design is similar to that on a silver button cover (a fragmentary component of a cufflink such as 2011 T587) from Bedale area, North Yorkshire (2004 T383). |
