Deutsch: 1839 führte Carl Daniel Freydanck (1811–1887) ein vierteiliges Panorama der Pfaueninsel in Öl aus (Kriegsverlust der SPSG). Als zweiten Abschnitt des Panoramas zeigte Freydanck den Blick auf das heute vor allem durch die Innenansichten von Carl Blechen (1798–1840) bekannte Palmenhaus auf der Pfaueninsel. 1829–1831 nach Entwürfen von Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781–1841) für die Unterbringung einer von Friedrich Wilhelm III. in Paris erworbenen Palmensammlung errichtet, brannte das Gebäude knapp fünfzig Jahre später aus bis heute ungeklärten Ursachen ab. Die Zeichnung des Palmenhauses trägt neben der Signatur des Künstlers die Unterschrift des Direktors der KPM, Georg Friedrich Christoph Frick (1781–1848). Walter zeigt das Palmenhaus, wie es wenige Jahre später von Freydanck in seinem Panorama mit leichten Änderungen in der Staffage wiederholt wurde. [Uta Kaiser mit Dank an Oliver Max Wenske]
