Title
English: The Creation in L'Antiquité Judaïque
Description
The manuscript, in French, contains two works of Flavius Josephus -- L'Antiquité Judaïque, in twenty books, and Bataille Judaïque in seven -- originally written in Aramaic and subsequently propagated in Latin and vernacular languages in the Middle Ages. The work was widely distributed in manuscript despite the emergence of printing. This manuscript must be one of those made for the alderman of Rouen, after 1460. The paintings located at the beginning of each book depict battles, looting, and destruction but also biblical episodes, with particular emphasis on the first one, the scene of Creation.
