Object history
Deutsch: Das vom Staatsministerium des Innern mit Entschliessungsnummer 3008e17 am 3. Januar 1933 verliehene Wappen nach dem Entwurf von Prof. Otto Hupp zeigt die 1133 geweihte romanische Kloster- und heutige Pfarrkirche von Biburg in der gebotenen heraldischen Vereinfachung. Das darüber schwebende Schildchen ist das apokryphe Stammwappen der ersten Vögte des Bendiktinerklosters. Die älteren Siegel der Äbte waren für ein neuzeitliches Gemeindewappen nicht geeignet; der von 1463 bis zur Stitfsaufhebung 1550 das Klosterwappen bildende Biber wurde mit vollem Recht nicht berücksichtigt, da er auf eine Fehldeutung des Kloster- und Ortsnamens zurückgeht.
