From 1994 to 19962006, she served as an Assistant Rhode Island [[Public defender (United States)|Public Defender]] for the Rhode Island Public Defender's Office. From 2006 to 2012, she served as an Assistant Federal Public Defender for the Districts of [[Massachusetts]], [[New Hampshire]] and [[Rhode Island]].
