Toadsworth is a fictional character in the Mario series. He is an elderly 60-year-old Toad who is also Princess Peach's longtime steward. His first appearance was in Super Mario Sunshine, where he comes along with Princess Peach and Mario to Isle Delfino.

Appearances
Following his appearance in Super Mario Sunshine, he appeared in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, with a minor role immediately before Mario and Luigi left for the Beanbean Kingdom. He later travelled with Princess Peach to Beanbean Castle but remained there until the game'sup ending sequence, which revealed him to be good friends with Lady Lima.

He also appears in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, where he is shown to have been taking care of Princess Peach since she was a baby and he was a spry young mushroom. He/they (as both young and old Toadsworths work together) also teach(es) the Mario Brothers the field abilities needed to traverse the levels of the game. This game also explains Toadsworth's past and personality. In the past, he was much more carefree and reckless in his youth. Also on the Nintendo DS, Toadsworth appeared in Super Princess Peach, a game where Princess Peach sets out on her own adventure to save Mario and Luigi. The opening scene shows the castle in panic, but Toadsworth for once stays calm and collected and tries to take charge, later protesting once more that Peach stay put, as opposed to trying to rescue Mario and Luigi from Bowser and when she refuses, he gives her Perry the umbrella.

He appeared again in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, taking Princess Peach to the town of Rogueport, where he loses her. Afterwards, he is usually found in the Inn. Rumors are found on the back of the billboard and in the Rougeport newsletter that he and Zess T. were seeing each other.

His most recent appearance was in New Super Mario Bros., where he would act as Toad did in Super Mario Bros. 3 and give Mario a certain item in various Toad Houses scattered through the game. Unlike in previous games, he does not speak.

Appearances in Spin-Off Games
He made a cameo appearance in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, driving the Parade Kart after a cup was completed. Although this kart could be unlocked after meeting a certain requirement, Toadsworth was not playable. Toadsworth made another cameo in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour as a statue in the Peach's Castle Grounds. He appeared in Mario Power Tennis as the referee.

He was playable for the first time in Mario Superstar Baseball, as a player with average speed, hitting, and pitching, but plays excellent defense. He is also the host in Mario Party 7 (in which he spouts inane comments such as "mucklock", "capital" and "my good egg").

Trivia
*Toadsworth is voiced by Charles Martinet, who also voices Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi.
*In Japan, the character is known as "Kinojii" (キノじい), a portmanteau of "kinoko (the Japanese word for mushroom), and "jii" (a Japanese colloquialism for an older man). In Spain and France, Toadsworth has a different name, being Maestro Kinopio (Master Kinopio) in Spain and Papy Champi (Mushroom Grandpa) in France and Mastro Toad (Master Toad) in Italy.
