==Voluptuous?==
I left it for others to decide, but I wouldn't call Lacey "voluptuous." "Attractive" is fine. "Voluptuous" implies a different body type. <small>—Preceding [[Wikipedia:Signatures|unsigned]] comment added by [[Special:Contributions/72.205.47.63|72.205.47.63]] ([[User talk:72.205.47.63|talk]]) 03:03, 3 November 2007 (UTC)</small><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
==Filming Locations==
Line 9 ⟶ 18:
The original Caddyshack was filmed at Rolling Hills Country Club in Florida. That was in the summer/fall of 1979, it might have changed names since.
John Barmon / AKA Spaulding Smails
Rolling Hills became Grande Oaks, and the golf shop page on its web site indeed mentions ''Caddyshack''.--[[User:Reedmalloy|Reedmalloy]] ([[User talk:Reedmalloy|talk]]) 19:06, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
completely incorrect on the date it was filmed. i lived across the street in arrowhead and i was there for filming got to meet rodney who through the years gave me free tickets to his new years eve party he use to have almost every year at sunrise theater. was also a extra on the course when they were filming. the date in ?. it was filmed in 1977 not 1979 as i moved in 1978 to north miami beach and filming was complete for a year. i have played that course a lot however i have not been back since it changed hands and got to overpopulated.. ==Nebraska==
Nowhere in the film is Nebraska stated as anything but the location of the school Danny is considering attending. Of the three sources listed below, only one, the Omaha.com article, actually lists Nebraska as the supposed location, and there is no source for the anecdote listed in that article. It seems to be pulled from old clickbait "10 things" articles, which again have no source. The pga.com and avclub.com sources discuss the Florida filming location, and state how the Murray Bros caddy experiences growing up in Illinois are the inspiration for the club, but make no mention of Nebraska. As can be clearly seen in the film itself, both Judge Smails and Al Czervik have Illinois license plates on their cars:
https://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_38456-Rolls-Royce-Silver-Shadow-I-1972.html
https://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_38457-Rolls-Royce-Silver-Cloud-III-Drophead-Coupe-1963.html
Why would the filmmakers go through the trouble (while filming in Florida mind you) to put IL plates on both cars for a film that takes place in Nebraska? If anything, Bushwood could be in a "random midwest location" and no state should be listed, but it certainly isn't Nebraska, which only seems to be a product of the one Danny Noonan line. It's like saying The Hunt for Red October took place in Montana because a main character mentioned it once in the film. <!-- Template:Unsigned IP --><small class="autosigned">— Preceding [[Wikipedia:Signatures|unsigned]] comment added by [[Special:Contributions/2601:243:1402:270:91AD:BF26:631B:51C7|2601:243:1402:270:91AD:BF26:631B:51C7]] ([[User talk:2601:243:1402:270:91AD:BF26:631B:51C7#top|talk]]) 02:09, 22 October 2019 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
I don't believe the film was intended to be set in Nebraska, and the line about going to college in Nebraska just implies that he doesn't want to go to college out in the sticks. <small>—The preceding [[Wikipedia:Signatures|unsigned]] comment was added by [[Special:Contributions/{{{IP|{{{User|72.198.212.175}}}}}}|{{{IP|{{{User|72.198.212.175}}}}}}]] ([[User talk:{{{IP|{{{User|72.198.212.175}}}}}}|talk]]) {{{Time|23:48:57, August 18, 2007 (UTC)}}}</small><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
Also, not many yacht clubs in Nebraska. When Danny says he's going to law school, he's asked if he means Harvard. Lacey Underall is from "Manhattan," not just New York or even New York City. So it's probably significant to these characters that there's a distinction. <small>—The preceding [[Wikipedia:Signatures|unsigned]] comment was added by [[Special:Contributions/{{{IP|{{{User|72.198.212.175}}}}}}|{{{IP|{{{User|72.198.212.175}}}}}}]] ([[User talk:{{{IP|{{{User|72.198.212.175}}}}}}|talk]]) {{{Time|00:00:32, August 19, 2007 (UTC)}}}</small><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
*Bushwood is clearly not supposed to be in Nebraska. The school Danny is considering near the beginning of the movie, presumably because it's the only one he may be able to afford, or the only one that may offer him a scholarship, is "St. Copious of Northern Nebraska". Part of Danny's lack of enthusiasm about St. Copious is the thought of living in Nebraska. So, the "in Nebraska" description near the beginning of the plot summary is flat-out wrong, but I decline to change it for now, because it's the sort of thing that someone may try to start an edit war over. I'll let someone else attempt it. [[User:Fish Man|Fish Man]] ([[User talk:Fish Man|talk]]) 20:25, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
::Actually there are multiple sources online confirming the Nebraska information and that even though the movie was actually shot in Florida, Ramis specifically picked a golf course that had oak trees, so it would look Midwestern. The film was partly based on Brian and Bill's own experiences as caddies, in Winnetka, IL. While it's never flat out stated, most likely the Bushwood Country Club was located in or near Omaha, NE.

::And yes there are yacht clubs in Nebraska, specifically a handful near Omaha. Just as there are yacht clubs in many Midwestern communities that are near sizable rivers or lakes; and both are to be found around the IA/NE border. I live on almost the exact opposite side of IA, where it borders IL, on the Mississippi River - we have yachts and yacht clubs here as well. We also has a PGA-tour-operated golf course. But you wouldn't want to film there in the fall, if your movie was set in the summer and you needed green leaves on those oak trees. Which is why Caddyshack was filmed in Florida.
::The significance of Lacey being from Manhattan is that these are people with money and they don't describe Manhattan socialites as coming from generic "New York." The significance of Danny's lack of enthusiasm for St Copius of North Nebraska is that he would have to move to the sticks of Nebraska - likely along the South Dakota border - whereas (his presumed home of) Omaha is an actual city with a population around a half a million. It's like having grown up in suburbs of Chicago (as the Murrays did) but only being able to get into a college in Macomb, IL. Sure, WIU is a great school, but compared to any urban center, Macomb is like the dark side of the moon.
::The reason the text hasn't been changed in the more than 10 years since 72.198.212.175 brought it up, is because it's accurate. [[User:CleverTitania|CleverTitania]] ([[User talk:CleverTitania|talk]]) 16:31, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
:::Wrong. You're speculating to beat the band, but no one is moved to ''actually cite a source in the article to support their claim''. Nebraska is mentioned as a location of an inexpensive college. PERIOD. Vehicles in the film clearly have ''Illinois'' license plates. Present a reliable, unimpeachable source for Nebraska or it must remain out of the article. ==Merge==
I have proposed a merge from [[Billy Baroo]], an article about the putter used by Ted Knight's character. That page is linked to only by this one, and it is difficult to imagine which other pages would need to link to it.[[User:Jlittlet|Jlittlet]] 01:47, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
And harmonize, the line that all Murray's lines were unscripted contradicts the earlier sentence that he, Ramis and Chase scripted a scene Murray was in together. While both might be what different sources indicate, it should either be harmonized or the problem should be acknowledged. ```` <span style="font-size: smaller;" class="autosigned">— Preceding [[Wikipedia:Signatures|unsigned]] comment added by [[Special:Contributions/75.191.151.75|75.191.151.75]] ([[User talk:75.191.151.75|talk]]) 01:19, 15 June 2011 (UTC)</span><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
== Restaurants ==
I added the bit about another restaurant in Orlando, Florida. This is true, i used to eat there every day when i worked near it (they were both in the same mall complex, Festival Bay mall), but it has since been closed for a few years now due to poor sales. <small>—Preceding [[Wikipedia:Signatures|unsigned]] comment added by [[Special:Contributions/70.119.185.104|70.119.185.104]] ([[User talk:70.119.185.104|talk]]) 03:32, 3 February 2008 (UTC)</small><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
== Honors section redundancy ==
It seems that the ''Honors'' section repeats some of the information given in the list of AFI recognitions immediately preceding it. How about moving the list of AFI recognitions into the ''Honors'' section, and then streamlining the ''Honors'' text? -- [[User:Pslide|Pslide]] ([[User talk:Pslide|talk]]) 02:37, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

== Repeatedly deletion of Denmark distributor article ==
Twice in recent days, individuals without set accounts have tried to delete the following section from the reception area.
* ''<nowiki>[[Denmark]] was the only place outside the United States or Canada where ''Caddyshack'' was initially a hit. The distributor had cut 20 minutes to emphasize Bill Murray's role.<ref name="berlingske">Iben Albinus Sabroe (2008). [https://archive.is/20130212210119/http://www.business.dk/jeg-vil-vinde-en-oscar ''Jeg vil vinde en Oscar'' (I Want to Win an Oscar)].</ref></nowiki>''
The last deletion notes on the topic said the following (with the previous deletion notes being roughly the same point):
* ''there is no evidence of Denmark being "the only place outside the United States where Caddyshack was initially a hit" beyond an editor in Denmark claiming this and and claiming it was because of himself''
I am once again reverting this deletion, and adding an editing note that it should not be deleted again without coming to the Talk page to make a case for consensus.
As to the case against deletion: What constitutes a reliable source on Wikipedia isn't the person they're speaking with, but the publication reporting on the story. I haven't found any indication that business.dk (or its German-language redirect) is not a reliable news outlet or that they fail to vet news sources and fact-check properly. I also tried to find any sources, secondary or primary, to contradict the comment about the films initial worldwide popularity or box office totals, the last time this passage was deleted and reverted. I couldn't find a single source to either support or contradict Grasten's claims.
Also, the person who is being interviewed in that article, and is making this claim, is not "an editor." Regner Grasten is a film writer, producer and distributor with 40+ credits to his name. He, and his work, have been featured in The Hollwood Reporter. And then there's this quote from the article being used at the citation for the section under dispute.
* ''Namely, the collaboration that was announced last year during the Cannes festival between Danish film's biggest commercial force, Regner Grasten, and Danish film's strongest creative force, Zentropa.''
Clearly Grasten is a credible source from the perspective of the writer and editor of the piece, and/or they specifically fact-checked his claims. Therefore, unless someone can produce a source which calls his statement into question, I believe this qualifies as adequately sourced and encyclopedic content, that should remain.
