Perhaps you might have some insight into this...I understand that many US Navy ships, after completing a cruise or a deployment, print and distribute a "cruisebook" to the crew which contains a summary of the ship's actions during the cruise and pictures of the crew, kind of like a high school yearbook. Are images scanned from such a cruisebook considered public domain? Is the cruisebook's printing paid for by the US Navy, or does it come from private funds raised by the ship's crewmembers amongst themselves?
