In the same year, Dharmawan and artist Ags Arya Dipayana wrote their first Islamic song "[[Dengan Menyebut Nama Allah]]" ("Saying the Name of Allah").<ref name="Pengalaman">{{Cite book|date=2003|title=Pengalaman religius tokoh dan selebritis|publisher=Spora Pustaka|isbn=9789799693716|pages=49}}</ref> The song, sungwhich recorded by [[Novia Kolopaking]] in 1992, became a critical success and have been covered by many artists, including singer Ita Purnamasari, the band [[Gigi (Indonesian band)|Gigi]], and used in numerous films and television programs.{{sfn|Ivvaty 2005, Pop Religius}} Shortly after, he began his singing debut with the release of his eponymous debut studio album, ''Dwiki Dharmawan'', in which he sung the title track "Di Antara Harapan" ("Between the Wishes") featuring Irma Basuki,{{sfn|Bintang 1991, Irama Masa Kini}} and "Sia-Sia Ku Menunggu" ("I'm So Futile to Wait for You").
