Dongo is a comune in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy. It lies on the northwestern shore of Lake Como between Gravedona and Musso at the mouth of the Albano. It is 70 km north of Milan and about 40 km northeast of Como. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,480 and an area of 7.5 km².[3]

It was in Dongo, on 27 April, 1945, that Benito Mussolini and others powerful fascist were captured by partisans as he was attempting to escape across the Swiss border.

Dongo borders the following municipalities: Colico, Consiglio di Rumo, Garzeno, Germasino, Musso, Pianello del Lario, Stazzona.
