George Anderson, (born January, 1893 in Manchester), was an English football player. Anderson was a winger with Manchester United whose career started in 1911. George would go onto score 39 goals for United, and scored another 39 goals during World War I which are unofficial.
George would also be involved in a match fixing scandal that end his career. In a game at Old Trafford on December 29, 1917 against Burnley F.C., George was accused of fixing the match after three United players complained to the team president. George was then banned from Old Trafford on January 8, 1918. On January 12, he was again accused of fixing a match between Everton and Blackpool F.C.. The football league banned him on February 20 and permanently banned from the sport.
