Here I Stand is R&B singer Usher's fifth album, scheduled to be released May 27 2008.[3] The first single from the album,[4] "Love in This Club", was released in February and debuted on Billboard magazine's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at number 51.[4] The single also debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 83 and in its third week on the chart became his eighth number one single.[5]. The album's second single is a remix of the first, but since the track is very different from the original it is credited as "Love in This Club Part II". "Love in This Club Part II" debuted on the "Billboard Hot 100" at #79 and on the "R&B/Hip-Hop Songs" chart at #14 for the chart week of May 10, 2008. "Love in This Club Part II" will be available for download on iTunes May 6th 2008 with the pre-order of "Here I Stand".

Background

Usher originally hoped to release it in November 2007;[6] it will finally see release on May 27th, 2008.[3] The album's cover shows a license plate 1126, the date of his son's birth.

Songs for the album have been recorded with Jermaine Dupri,[6] T-Pain,[7] Dre & Vidal,[8] and Polow da Don. Other producers he may have worked with but aren't yet confirmed include Kanye West, Timbaland, and Ne-Yo.[9] Lil Jon, with whom Usher has had great success in the past, has not yet worked on the album. He said in an interview with MTV News that he's trying to find Usher a new sound.[8]

In an April appearance on MTV's TRL, Usher stated that Beyoncé and Jay-Z will appear together on his album.[10]

In an interview with MTV News, Jermain Dupri claimed that although Usher had said that second single would be "Moving Mountains", it might be replaced by a newer song—"The Best Thing"—recorded with Jay-Z.[3]

Dupri also talked about the album: "Usher's album is more about teaching men [that] at some point, you gotta grow up. And growing up is respecting a woman and having a woman in your life and taking care of your woman. That's his definition of growing up."[3]
