Overview
Lawndale High School is one of three high schools in Lawndale, California. This is significant in that Lawndale, California is only 2 square miles of bedroom community is SW Los Angeles County.
Lawndale High is part of the Centinela Valley Union High School District.
Lawndale High and its' Alumni Association annually host an August reunion picnic at the school.
Notable alumni
- Fred Dryer is an actor and former NFL defensive end for the New York Giants and the Los Angeles Rams. He graduated from LHS in the mid 60's. He starred in the TV show, Hunter
- Mike Battle is a former NFL safety for the New York Jets. He was a teammate of Fred Dryer and graduated the same year.
- Gary Allenson is the manager of the Norfolk Tides, an affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. He was a catcher for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox. Gary graduated from LHS in 1972.
- Ricardo Lemvo, leader of Congo's premier Afro/Latin Soukous (African rumba) band, "Makina Loca", immigrated from Zaire at 15 to attend LHS where he graduated in 1974.
