1971 Bingöl earthquake

The 1971 Bingöl earthquake occurred at 18:43 local time (16:43 UTC) on 22 May. It had a magnitude of 6.7 on the surface wave magnitude scale and a maximum intensity of VIII (Destructive) on the Mercalli intensity scale, killing about 1,000 people.
