Valentia Young Islanders

Valentia Young Islanders are a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Valentia Island, South County Kerry, Ireland. They play in Division 5 of the county league and in the Kerry Junior Football Championship.

The Young Islanders is one of the many clubs affected by mass emigration. The club lost 14 players (almost a complete team) in the last year.[1]

Controversy

In 2006, a challenge match against the Skellig Rangers ended in a flare-up. Stephen O'Sullivan (Skellig Rangers) ended up in hospital with a fractured jaw and dislocated teeth. The allenged perpetrator John O’Connor (Valentia Young Islanders) was brought before Court in november 2007.[2]
