Western People

The Western People is a weekly local newspaper published in Ballina, County Mayo in the Republic of Ireland, it was first published in 1883. The paper is now owned by Cork-based Thomas Crosbie Holdings. Until recently the paper was printed at its premises in Ballina, but printing has been outsourced by its owner to a Cork based company.

The Ballina Herald newspaper (1844 – April 28, 1962), later named 'Ballina Herald and Mayo and Sligo Advertiser', merged with the Western People in or around 1962.

According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, it had an average weekly circulation of 18,242 (ABC Jan-Dec '08 - 12 month figure). It is one of just a few newspapers in the west of Ireland which provides verifiable and independently audited circulation figures.

CEO is Brian Feeney and Commercial Director is David Dwane.
