WMHB Waterville, 89.7 FM, is the radio station of Colby College in Waterville, Maine, USA. Managed by the student run Mayflower Hill Broadcasting Corporation, WMHB has been on air in one form or another since 1949. WMHB plays an eclectic blend of music and programming, focusing on new artists. WMHB can be heard in Waterville, Winslow, Oakland, Fairfield and surrounding communities. WMHB can also be heard around the world via its webcast through their website.

History of WMHB

March 1949: Radio Colby begins broadcasting over WTVL's airwaves three to five hours a week from the Tower Room of the Miller Library at Colby College.

Spring 1955: Radio Colby (600 K.C. AM) begins broadcasting from the veterans' apartments on the Colby College campus.

Winter 1957: Radio Colby goes off the air.

March 1964: Radio Colby (610 K.C. AM) resumes broadcasting from the basement of Roberts Union at Colby.

Fall 1973: Mayflower Hill Broadcasting (WMHB 91.5 FM) begins broadcasting from the third floor of Roberts Union with 10 watts of power.

Spring 1984: Mayflower Hill Broadcasting becomes incorporated with the state of Maine as a non-profit organization, solely owned by its Board of Directors.

September 1985: WMHB moves its frequency to 90.5 and moves its studios to the present location with 110 watts of power.

September 1987: WMHB goes on the air as a community alternative radio station.

October 2000: WMHB changes frequency to 89.7 fm.

January 2001: WMHB begins streaming audio live over the internet.
