With the [[Supernova]] page, clearly 'stellar explosion' is a general simplification to account for the great plethora of differing mechanisms and outcomes. I.e. "A supernova is a type of stellar explosion." Absolute fact. Is there a more fundamental or simpler definition?

Both these statements were chosen very carefully to counteract the continuous unnecessary edits (mostly by either novices or unregistered users) and make the page stable. Furthermore, if you do wish to change this, you must discuss it on the Talkpage, and also need to gain consensus to do so.
