== Addition and changes to Dave Smukler article by his daughter == |
I have a few additions/changes |
1. Dave Smukler died on February 22, 1971 - I am his daughter. One of the wires in his pacemaker broke triggering a massive heart attack when he was standing in line at the Los Angeles International Airport. |
2. I found a letter from my dad, Dave Smukler, that said he wanted to go into the army because of what was happening to his race (Jews) in Germany. |
3. He was the West Coast Division Sales Manager for Bridgestone Tires. |
4. Dave Smukler was not only the West Coast Commissioner for Pop Warner Football, but he also coached a team, The Reseda Rams, when I was a child. |
5. In the Hall of Fame, there are two paychecks that Dave Smukler gave back to Bert Bell when the Eagles were having monetary struggles. |
Karen Smukler Hudson (Dave Smukler's daughter) <!-- Template:Unsigned IP --><small class="autosigned">— Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.164.20.9 (talk) 18:29, 15 May 2021 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot--> |

: Thank you for doing the right thing and asking for another editor to modify an article for which you have a conflict of interest. That said, I recommend that you first make your request at Talk:David Smukler and then return to this page if no one responds to you there. But before you do that, please know that Wikipedia requires that information be supported by citations to reliable, published sources (see wp:SOURCES). When you make your request on the Dave Smukler talk page provide appropriate sources for any fact you want added. Unfortunately, there probably isn't one for (for example) your father's letter explaining why he joined the army. == Editor's edit summaries (language, tone) == |
Hey all, good morning. |
I'm concerned by Sparkle1 and the tone they use in edit summaries. This has been in the back of my mind for a while, and I've stopped myself from making a big thing about it, but I think maybe we've got to a point where a little advice is needed. I'm not an admin so my actions are limited. |
#. Use of the phrase "stupid new inclusion" and "cancerous" here - |
#. Removal of a large amount of content without a summary here - |

#. A run of edits on Leeds Council election articles using somewhat theatrical language here which I did mention in the project page here where I tagged Sparkle1 without their input to date. |
At the beginning of the month they had some back and forth on their talk page with very harsh and uncooperative language ("I am completely not interested") here . |
I would like to ask if I'm right to be concerned by their tone and language, whether I am being too "soft" in being concerned here? They seem to be very constructive editors in some ways but there are moments of conflict and temper that I now think might need guidance in dealing with. Once I've posted this here, I'll put the link on their talk page. :Unfortunately, this page isn't for resolving editor issues. I hope to find the time to write an essay collecting all the recommendations for dealing with "disruptive" editors. Unfortunately, I've only gotten as far as collecting links to some of the "how to" pages. Here's my list: |

== Removing something from my Wiki - living celebrity == |
Hello, |
I would like to have something removed from my wiki page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natasha_Leggero - someone is misrepresenting my early life by citing a joke that I made in public forum as fact. |
"She has stated that a DNA test revealed 6% Sub-Saharan African ancestry.[8]" Source 8: "The Nightly Show". cc.com. Comedy Central. Retrieved June 17, 2015. |
I would like this removed as it is part of a comedic routine and not something that should be cited as part of my biography. Please remove this ASAP. Thank you. |

== Re Daly Waters, Northern Territory, Australia. == |
rf You mention in the article re Daly Waters that commercial aviation ceased in 1965. |
I wish to correct that statement, because from about September 1967 until August 1969, I was the Route Agent for both TAA and Ansett Airlines of Australia, servicing their F27 services from Adelaide to Darwin and reverse as they transited Daly WatersMChandler2 (talk) 11:30, 22 May 2021 (UTC) |

== External link to relevant content is being deleted == |
Hello, |
I've been trying to post some relevant content located on an external site to one of the wiki pages. Specifically: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consolidated_PBY_Catalina |
I have been trying to post a link to the images of the restoration of Catalina 2459 that started last July. Every time I post the link, an admin takes it down. I don't understand the reason for this. This is precisely the type of content that attracts people to Wikipedia so what is the policy that allows this? |
There is no self promotion going on. You will not find my name or related information anywhere on the pages or images. I've volunteered to do this so I don't make a dime off the images. While visitors do show up at my site to view the images that's exactly what happens with every external link so I don't see that as an issue. |
I've had no issue with any of the other historical aircraft I have posted on Wikipedia. Given the response I see from Wikipedia on these other aircraft, it's fulfilling Wikipedia's goal of providing the world with relevant information at great depth. It is also unique content in a unique format that can't be found anywhere else. Again, I am puzzled as to why the admin pulls the link. |
Regarding this aircraft, this is the oldest flying PBY 5A Catalina in the world with 3 sub kills during WWII. It is being restored to its original configuration as a WWII sub hunter. This is a historically significant aircraft and I have been documenting the restoration for the Collings Foundation in Stow, MA. It is currently being restored at American Aero Services in New Smyrna Beach, FL. |
The page I would like to post is here: http://americanaeroservices.com/pby5acatalina2459grphc2.html |
Along with the record of the restoration, these images also document the remarkable engineering that went into the Consolidated Vultee design dating to the 1930s. On several levels this a significant and detailed look at the aircraft. |
Please advise. |
Thank you. |
Regards, |

:Hello. Based on your edits from this IP, you have WP:BOLDly edited an article. That is fine. You have been reverted twice, you can see the stated reasons at , that is also fine. It seems plausible that you have made more similar edits from another IP, if that is so you are now WP:EDITWARing, that is not fine. |
:Now, your next step is to go to Talk:Consolidated PBY Catalina and start a discussion per WP:BRD. WP:ELYES, WP:ELMAYBE and WP:ELNO are probably relevant here. Good luck. ==Help to understand Wikipedia Criteria== |
Hi, I need some help to understand why an article I have written in my mother language Portuguese Wikipédia about a pro-gun institution was fast deleted and an admin agreed with that, and the same article I translated the best I can and published in the English Wikipedia was accepted and verified with no problem ??? |
Here are the twins :en:PROARMAS (OK) - :pt:PROARMAS (EXCLUDED) |
They justified the exclusion by "no relevance", but this one is currently the most proheminent institution on this subject in Brazil, and there are a lot of sources and external links to prove that... |
Thanks in advance. |

:pt:Wikipedia and en:Wikipedia have different policies. Few editors here will be familiar with the policies at pt:Wikipedia, and we certainly won't have any influence over what happens there. Maproom (talk) 07:02, 26 May 2021 (UTC) |

:: Marcric. The CSD they used looks very similar to our WP:A7. Maybe draft the article in your user space, make sure there are several citations to reliable sources such as newspapers and books, make sure there are credible claims of significance in the first paragraph, then move it or ask for a pt person's opinion on it? Good luck. –<span style="color:limegreen">Novem Linguae</span> <small>(talk)</small> 07:58, 26 May 2021 (UTC) |
Latest revision as of 06:27, 10 September 2023
On 31 May 2021, a community discussion concluded that Wikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests should be closed down in an effort to consolidate help venues. New requests for assistance should instead be directed to either the Teahouse (an area specifically for new users) or the help desk. |
This Wikipedia page has been superseded and is retained primarily for historical reference. |
