He was the Member of [[Thirunelly]] Grama Panchayat for five years and became the President of Tirunelly Grama Panchayat for 10 years. He was the Member of Mananthavady Block Panchayat for 2 years. He was selected to the council of ministers of [[Second Vijayan ministry|second Pinarayi Vijayan Cabinet]] as [[K. Radhakrishnan (politician)|K Radhakrishnan]] had resigned his post he was allotted as Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes after he was elected to [[18th Lok Sabha]] from [[Alathur Lok Sabha constituency|Alathur]].<ref name=":0" /> Also he is the first CPM minister from [[Wayanad district|Wayanad]].<ref name=":1" />

O. R. Kelu (born 2 August 1970) is an Indian politician and Minister for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes in the second Pinarayi Vijayan government.[3] He got elected as the MLA for the second term from Mananthavady, Wayanad, Kerala.[4]

Son of Raman and Ammu, he was born at Wayanad on 2 August 1970. Kelu is from Kurichiya tribe.[3] Kelu is a farmer by profession. He is married to Santha P. K. and has two daughters. He is a SSLC dropout.[5][6] He was once a daily wage worker.[5]

Political career

He was the Member of Thirunelly Grama Panchayat for five years and became the President of Tirunelly Grama Panchayat for 10 years. He was the Member of Mananthavady Block Panchayat for 2 years. He was selected to the council of ministers of second Pinarayi Vijayan Cabinet as K Radhakrishnan had resigned his post he was allotted as Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes after he was elected to 18th Lok Sabha from Alathur.[3] Also he is the first CPM minister from Wayanad.[5]
