Bill Fagerbakke is not a comedian, his occupation section needs to be fixed with the occupation "comedian" to be removed. Broadway

[edit]

Since he doesn't appear in the Internet Broadway Data Base, and since his personal website's biography doesn't mention appearing on Broadway, and since he dubs a character named "Broadway", and since our article nonetheless claims he appeared in "several on-and-off Broadway stage shows", and since there are only about 4-5 years between his graduation from college and his initial appearances in California, leaving not too much time for him to have appeared on Broadway, I'd like to suggest there's a real possibility we're confused here, and that we could do with a good citation that would tell us which stage shows he has been in, if any. - Nunh-huh 02:34, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since you posted this statement (in 2006) and since you seem to want to know this information (and since I have been married to Bill Fagerbakke for 21 years), I can safely report that Bill has indeed appeared on Broadway in the 1980's in "The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940". This information will not be found on his personal website because he doesn't have a personal website. Bill is not one to update his bios-or even have a current headshot. But he doesn't seem to need to. He has worked steadily as an actor since graduating from SMU and moving to New York. He has never waited tables or tended bar. He has always been a working actor. Besides doing Spongebob and several other regular voice over roles, he has a recurring character on How I Met Your Mother. PS-4 to 5 years is plenty of time to work on the great white way! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.106.163.195 (talk) 08:20, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Three of his occupations need to be removed "director, producer and writer". Because he's not famous for those works. According to IMDb itself, he doesn't do that much directing and producing or writing. His only notable occupation is acting and voice acting. 2600:1000:B01F:F947:1958:4596:9A09:4AAB (talk) 23:56, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not done That's his point. That information is invalid due to the fact it's source is a user generated website (much like Wikipedia) and should not be the sole source of information. Please provide other references to support your claim. — IVORK Discuss 02:48, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Arjayay and IVORK: The IP is trying to explain that someone added "director, producer and writer" as occupations to the article with no corresponding source that these are actually primary occupations (as required by Template:Infobox person and MOS:BIO). You are asking them to provide sources that Fagerbakke is not a director producer and writer, which is pretty much an impossible task. I've remove the disputed matreial as unsourced until/unless someone provides reliable sources that these are indeed primary occupations.--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 18:30, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Ponyo, I appreciate it. I think you accidentally remove "voice actor" for his occupations by accident. 2600:1000:B02A:E69:78A1:B88E:8843:4399 (talk) 19:42, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

DOB

[edit]

I see User:Ponyo removed the source giving the DOB as October 4, 1957 saying that the source only listed 1957. It actually does give October 4 later down in the page but Google hides it for some reason. It was copied onto here if you want to read it. I've got no idea why it says A is his middle initial though, that appears to be inaccurate - every other source says Mark and it doesn't match his birth record. Organization

[edit]

I was reading the filmography, and while there are clearly labeled and titles sections for roles in TV series, roles in games, and roles in movies, there are a bunch of TV shows lumped in with the movies (ex. Coach (TV series)). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alehanro999 (talkcontribs) 16:47, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Hello. The information was previously removed because it was in a source, the Daily Mail that Wikipedia users have determined is not a reliable source. This request is really cited to just TMZ, which likewise is generally considered a low-quality source. The policy on Biographies of living persons requires us to be very careful of stating anything in an article based on such sources. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 19:06, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Filmography

[edit]

HIMYM is under films, not television.

In fact, the films section is misnamed, it's both films and tv shows. And it also should be converted into tabular format like the other sections. 🗩Kaz (talk) 22:00, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Patrick the Snowman

[edit]

Under the TV section of filmography, there is a link to one of the stop motion Christmas interstitials namely Snowman Patrick. Said short redirects to SpongeBob episode guide which should have not been hyper linked to begin with. Already did this to Carolyn Lawrence. I might have a vague memory about an AFD discussion involving the vignette somewhere in late 2018.

Is there by any chance that someone could restore his persom life section back in the article again of his wife and kids, because it was deleted a while back due to unrelitable sources because of Daily Mail. If you guys need a better source to help restore it back, there are some that I found that could help it.  Not done: Both sources failed verification. Even if they did not, it would not be clear what you think should be added. We cannot restore an earlier section that was deleted for policy violations and just substitute new sources. If new sources are used, then the information from them would necessarily require new text. Not intending to cast aspersions in any way by this but it seems very odd that a very similar range of IP addresses has been requesting information about this actor's personal life for almost two years now. Please read the policy on biographies of living persons before making this request again. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 18:14, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I know, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to keep requesting this so many times, it's just that it's really important for the article and I'm just trying the best I can to provid the best sources I possibly could. But does Hollywood Reporter count? Here:https://www.hollywood.com/general/actor-bill-fagerbakke-splits-from-wife-59442806/ 2600:1000:B051:E1A8:C435:632A:39C8:C30C (talk) 21:16, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

IP user: I understand and I don't think anyone's upset with you. I'm certainly not so no apologies are needed. I will say that registering for an account would make it easier to carry on a conversation about these requests (I could ping you so you'd know when I replied, for example) but it is not required and I can understand if you don't want to. I haven't reinstated the previous section that was deleted because I simply can't under the policy on Biographies of Living persons. On a practical level, it is also very difficult to determine exactly what this old section would have said from the page history at this point.
In any event, the old text was cited to sources that are not generally considered acceptable. Reinstating the old text and adding a new source, whether the Orlando Sentinel or Hollywood.com is not a possibility, either. Text follows sources and you can't slap old text with a new source and call it equivalent.
Edit requests are generally intended to be presented with good sources and text that follows that source as a sort of "package deal". What you're requesting has morphed slightly into a "please help me put together a good edit request" request. I've tried to see if I can independently source this information since, as you say, it is obviously important to you. Unfortunately, I cannot find anything that qualifies under that policy. The Hollywood.com (not The Hollywood Reporter, by the way, which is separate) source, for example, is not their work but instead "according to TMZ.com."
At this point in time, the situation seems to be that it was never very important to any of the sources we can use. This is not all that surprising since Fagerbakke's ex-wife does not seem to have been herself famous. It is unlikely that the sourcing for an eight-years-gone divorce/separation/whatever it was will improve in time. I'm sorry I haven't been able to fulfill this request and can only leave you with the observation of Jimmy Wales from a time with that policy was being created: Zero information is preferred to misleading or false information. If the average reader never hears about this person's marital status, it does not really change how their work as an actor is covered. I know it's not what you want to hear, but I hope it helps. In 'Career', I suggest removing the following sentence in the second paragraph:

"Fagerbakke has received critical acclaim as a thespian by the Screen Actors Guild and Juilliard School of Performing Arts for his roles as Shylock in Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice, and Torvald in Ibsen's A Doll's House."

There appears to be no available record of Fagerbakke appearing in either of these roles, let alone receiving acclaim for them from a performing arts school (how would a performing arts school give acclaim anyway?). The citation given for this sentence links to a newspaper column from March 19, 2009. However, the text in question was first added on March 19, 2008, using nearly the same phrasing about the acclaim from Juilliard (no mention is given of the Screen Actors Guild).

It seems that the newspaper column may have used an invented claim from the Wikipedia page itself, which is now referenced as the source for the claim. Openscrim (talk) 05:20, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, looks like textbook WP:CITOGENESIS to me - unsourced information was added in March 2008, the column was published in March 2009, and added to the article as a citation in June 2009. Based on this, without further citations I don't see this source as reliable at all, so I've removed it (and the information it supports) wherever it appears. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 14:56, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Patrick the Snowman II

[edit]

From the last request I’ve done about the Christmas short crossing over with Jimmy Neutron characters in stop motion parodying Frosty with Patrick as the snow person the link to that holiday interstitial under his filmography currently redirects to SpongeBob’s episode guide. The page was last seen live over two decades ago and was merged due to neglecting notability guidelines. Being a redirect and still non-notable it shouldn’t be blue linked.
