Hello,

I've been trying to post some relevant content located on an external site to one of the wiki pages. Specifically: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consolidated_PBY_Catalina

I have been trying to post a link to the images of the restoration of Catalina 2459 that started last July. Every time I post the link, an admin takes it down. I don't understand the reason for this. This is precisely the type of content that attracts people to Wikipedia so what is the policy that allows this?

There is no self promotion going on. You will not find my name or related information anywhere on the pages or images. I've volunteered to do this so I don't make a dime off the images. While visitors do show up at my site to view the images that's exactly what happens with every external link so I don't see that as an issue.

I've had no issue with any of the other historical aircraft I have posted on Wikipedia. Given the response I see from Wikipedia on these other aircraft, it's fulfilling Wikipedia's goal of providing the world with relevant information at great depth. It is also unique content in a unique format that can't be found anywhere else. Again, I am puzzled as to why the admin pulls the link.

Regarding this aircraft, this is the oldest flying PBY 5A Catalina in the world with 3 sub kills during WWII. It is being restored to its original configuration as a WWII sub hunter. This is a historically significant aircraft and I have been documenting the restoration for the Collings Foundation in Stow, MA. It is currently being restored at American Aero Services in New Smyrna Beach, FL.

The page I would like to post is here: http://americanaeroservices.com/pby5acatalina2459grphc2.html

Along with the record of the restoration, these images also document the remarkable engineering that went into the Consolidated Vultee design dating to the 1930s. On several levels this a significant and detailed look at the aircraft.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Regards,

John — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:9001:3404:706:68D1:38B2:FC9E:FFB2 (talk) 21:37, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Based on your edits [1] from this IP, you have WP:BOLDly edited an article. That is fine. You have been reverted twice, you can see the stated reasons at [2], that is also fine. It seems plausible that you have made more similar edits from another IP, if that is so you are now WP:EDITWARing, that is not fine.
Now, your next step is to go to Talk:Consolidated PBY Catalina and start a discussion per WP:BRD. WP:ELYES, WP:ELMAYBE and WP:ELNO are probably relevant here. Good luck. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 22:45, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, I checked the link that John wants to add and I got an error message Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. Archived versions of the link show the same. starship.paint (exalt) 03:38, 5 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Clive

Clarity, simplicity, and accuracy require time and effort. They also require generosity.

I just watched hours of effort abruptly disappear from my screen without explanation or warning while writing in a "sandbox" without any thought of anonymous censorship.

My subject was Robert Clive based on a semester paper that I wrote nearly 60 years ago about Clive's character and his influence on the western world. My resource was a newly-built library at the University of the South and the contemporary newspapers it contained.

I have been writing measurably useful material for 40 years and offered to share what I learned with Wiki.

But people can view writing differently.

To me, writing is the most elegant form of engineering -- the process of structuring ideas on paper. You begin with an idea and substantiate it. But as Clemenceau would say "Words can disguise thoughts." In the beginning Wiki offered useful information that is usefully presented and easily accessed -- first for programmers and then for writers.

The abrupt deletion of good faith writing and the redirection of my screen to references that suggest both plagiarism and thoughtful writing are against editorial policy - is unsettling.

The foundation of everything is logos.

Please return what you deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rick's 2nd Faust (talkcontribs)

Can you provide a link to the page where the deletion occurred? We'll take a look. –Novem Linguae (talk) 11:53, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ping Rick's 2nd Faust. –Novem Linguae (talk) 09:55, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Rick's 2nd Faust, as an admin, I can see your deleted contributions. You have no deleted contributions under this account, in a userspace sandbox or otherwise. If you made them under a different account, you will have to tell us what that account is for anyone to be able to help you. Seraphimblade Talk to me 05:21, 1 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Possible conflict of Interest

Hello. I am fairly new to Wikipedia and not sure how to address this. Randy Fine has a page, who is is a Republican politician in the Florida House of Representatives. A user with the name @Floridagopman: (Which seems like Randy Fine himself because the name has Florida and initials GOP is synonymous with the Republican Party) has made many changes to page. Glancing at the edits, this user has removed many negative things about Randy Fine and put in positive things.

I put a warning on Floridagopman's talk page. Anything else to do for now ? Thanks RockyMaivia88 (talk) 21:55, 5 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

RockyMaivia88, this sounds like something you ought to bring up at the conflict of interest noticeboard. Seraphimblade Talk to me 23:01, 5 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
