Gary Lefkowith is an American songwriter and producer with roots in Reading, Pennsylvania.[3] He has been active in the music industry since 1976 and has a diverse genre profile that includes Smooth Jazz, Rock, Top 40, Alternative, and Adult Contemporary music. In 2003 he co-produced a remix for Chubby Checker of "Limbo Rock". It was produced in collaboration with Mike Rogers and credited to The Hill & Hifi .[4][5]

With Bandmate, Mike Rogers, Lefkowith made a significant impact on the smooth jazz scene with their group Le Sonic.[6] The single "Any Moment" featuring guitarist Robert Lee, an original member of ? & The Mysterians, topped the Billboard Smooth Jazz National Airplay charts in February 2022. Following that, another single titled "I’ll Be The One," featuring Lauran Beluzo and Robert Lee, also reached the top of the same charts in October. It was the first vocal record to achieve a # 1 on Billboard in nearly five years. His most recent single "Riverside Drive," featuring Jim Hynes and Scott Kreitzer, has climbed up to number four on the Billboard Smooth Jazz charts as of 2023.[7]

According to Rolling Stone:[8]

"Lefkowith – now 73 years old – recounts that he vowed to have a Number One record. In February 2022, Le Sonic’s single “Any Moment” with jazz artist Robert Lee ended up topping the Billboard Smooth Jazz National Airplay charts. In October, their single “I’ll Be The One” with vocalist Lauran Beluzo and Lee once again repeated the feat. Most recently, their 2023 single “Riverside Drive” with trumpeter Jim Hynes and saxophonist Scott Kreitzer also made its way up to the fourth spot on the same charts."

According to smoothjazznetwork.com:[9]

"Gary, LeSonic has achieved something that rarely happens on the Smooth Jazz Charts. #1 on Billboard and also #1 on our Smooth Jazz Network chart..."
