Aldila Wulandari Kusumashanty Pranadjaja (27 May 1984 – 9 November 2020), better known as Dylan Sada, was an Indonesian–American model, photographer, and singer. She was the granddaughter of singer Citra Pranadjaja.
Early life
Dylan Sada was born on May 27, 1984, in Jakarta, Indonesia, as the daughter of Watty Pranadjaja[1][2]. She had a younger brother named Dimas Radityo.[3] Her maternal grandfather, Citra Pranadjaja, was a singer who founded the Bina Vokalia music school[4]. Dylan attended London Public School Jakarta and later pursued higher education at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, although she eventually dropped out and moved to the United States3.[4][5]
Personal life
Dylan openly shared details of her life with her Instagram followers, including her pain.[6] She aimed to help and inform her audience while supporting them as not only individuals but also budding artists. Among her experiences, Dylan went through a divorce from her longtime companion, Angel Perez. She also revealed that she was a victim of sexual abuse by her father, which played a role in her decision to move from Indonesia to the United States.[7]The trauma from her youth significantly impacted her relationships. Tragically, before her untimely passing, Dylan disclosed that she had been violently assaulted by her boyfriend, leading her to relocate from New York to Louisiana.[6] In New York, she had spent most of her life immersed in creativity, cultivating art, and nurturing the artistic community she was part of .[8]
Career
Dylan Sada began her career as a photographer after a meeting with Ivanho Halim, a Kalimantan-born professional photographer based in Singapore.[9] She believed that photography was not only about capturing images but also about combining ideas, dreams, and visions in life.[9] During her life, she worked as a model in New York, collaborating with various companies such as Elle magazine, Nylon, L’Officiel, ID Magazine, Dior, Inez and Vinoodh, and photographer Ryan McGinley.[9] [8]Dylan was often credited as being an eccentric and bold model.[8] Additionally, she worked as a singer for television commercial jingles and often sang independently, sharing her music on SoundCloud.[3]
