Bertalan Koczuván (Template:Lang-sl, or Jernej Kocuvan, German: Bartolomäus Kozuvan, August 16, 1828 – October 25, 1889) was a Slovene teacher and author. He was lived and worked in Hungary.

He was born in Styria, in Sveti Jurij ob Ščavnici. His parents was Valent Kocuvan and Marija (neé Anžel).[1] He started his work in 1854 as an assistant teacher in Ljutomer.

Márk Sziszeki (Zsizsek), priest of Beltinci, invited him to teach at the school in Ižakovci (at this time Slovene March in Kingdom of Hungary).

Sziszeki and Koczuván was patriotic Slovenes. Kocuvan introduced the Carniolian literary Slovene language and the Slovene script to the school of Ižakovci in order to prepare the Hungarian Slovenes for unification with the Styrian Slovenes.[2]

In the school year 1879/1880, Kocuvan began writing in Prekmurje Slovene a coursebook about the home studies, which remained in manuscript. Probably because of Magyarization, Kocuvan was not allowed to publish this book.
