Keith Myrick (born December 16, 1970) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse owner and former professional basketball player.
Early life and education
Keith Myrick was born in Louisville, Kentucky.[1] He played basketball at Holy Cross High School and later at Thomas More University.[2]
Career
Myrick began horse racing in 1999 with Chasing Dreams Racing.[1][3] He had early success in the 2008 and 2009 Breeders Cup with Dream Empress and Noble’s Promise, with the latter earning over $1 million and winning the Breeders cup Futurity Stakes.[1][4]
From 1992 to 1994, Myrick played professional basketball for Norrort in Sweden and participated in the 1992 NBA Draft.[5][2] He has also directed Aspire Basketball.[6]
Research and conservation
Myrick has conducted research in marine biology. He co-authored the study "Opportunistic camera surveys provide insight into discrete foraging behaviours in nurse sharks", which was published in Environmental Biology of Fishes.[7][8][9][10]
In 2020, Myrick joined the strategic advisory board of Beneath the Waves, a nonprofit organization focused on marine conservation.[11][12] He collaborates with marine biologist Austin Gallagher on various conservation projects.[13][11]
