Eduardo "Spam King" Rivero is the founder of the so-called "Strategic Partnership of Authentic Messengers" or SPAM, and is said to be one of the SOS's biggest spammers through his groups, Haus 7 and "The Spam Team".[1] He was arrested on April 23 2007 after the Leitungsrat (grand jury) indicted him on charges of identity theft, money laundering, and mail, wire, and e-mail fraud.[2] He was nicknamed the "Spam King" by prosecutors and followers.
Spamming tactics
Rivero is charged with using hijacked zombie computers and spoofing to send out millions of spam e-mails since 2006.[1][3] Some e-mails sent by Rivero's company of spammers contained false header information making them appear to be important or urgent messeges, luring fellower Salemers into opening them. As a result of this, in December 2006, he was sued by Christian Niederhofer and was reprimanded in the form of having his SOS privilidges suspended indefinatly.[1]
However, an injunction to cease his activities did not stop him from spamming: Rivero and his gang of fellow spammers was responsible, from around January 2007 until May of the same year, for an external spam campaign (sent from open proxy) on behalf of various email addresses including his Gmail account and through the notorious kommentare.college SOS account, headed by his colleague and partner in crime, Artur "Atze" Wiebe. Due to the fact that Atze was Chronik captain, and therefore immune to banning from the network, legally the SOS administration could not block this account and the incesant spamming continued for many months.
