Faded Paper Figures

Faded Paper Figures (abbreviated as FPF) is an American indie band from Los Angeles, California. FPF is known for their electric and organic sound much like The Postal Service's. The band consists of three members, R. John Williams (guitar and vocals), Kael Alden (bass, guitar, drums, ect...), and Heather Alden (vocals). The band formed around February 2007 and has one album released as of now entitled Dynamo (2008), and has their second album planned for release early 2010.

History

The band formed sometime around February 2007. Originally in Irvine, California, Williams and Kael had been dicussing music at a party. Kael had been working with a family company, Robot Repair, which composes music for TV and film. John was a musician himself and had experience with songwriting also. The duo decided to meet up and record some material, only after a few days did they realize what was beginning to spark. The next few months were spent creating and experimenting with sounds and other songs. The duo decided to create a myspace to post their music, at first they named themselves "Machine Discourse". They began to add Heather's voice to a few tracks and decided that she would stay involved with the band. Once they began to grow they got more serious about the band and decided their band name wasn't satisfying, thus they changed it to Paper Faded Figures. For the next few months they continued posting new tracks on their myspace page.

Dynamo

They entered the track, "Being There" into the UC Irvine Songwriting Contest and won "Best Song of the Year" much to their surprise. Eventually they had enough songs for an album, and released Dynamo on iTunes July 11, 2008. The troupe threw a series of live shows together, but then stopped.

New Medium

Heather got into the UCLA Medical School, and Williams took a job as a professor at Yale. Though they kept up the songwriting and have released a few singles for the next album on their myspace page. As of now, the band has their next album, New Medium, planned for release sometime February 2010.
