Xu Song (singer)

Xu Song (Chinese:许嵩) is a popular singer in China. He was born in Hefei,Anhui Province,in 1986. His English name is Vae. Vae’s Internet Time (2006--2008) In 2006,Vae is still a sophomore in medical college. In his spare time,he made some simple demos with personal computer and microphone. Some of them are adaptions,and others are written by him and his friend. After he put these demos on the Internet with the name of ‘Vae’,more and more people began to know him as a singer. From 2007 to 2008,Vae kept writing and up-loading at least one song per month. To everyone’s surprise,he refused all performance invitation in order not to have a bad influence on his academic study. His songs and such behavior attracted more people to become his fans. In these three years,Vae changed from a music player to a professional singer. What’s more,he was not only a traditional Internet singer,but also the person who inproved the level of Internet songs. Though Vae was really popular on the Internet then,nobody knew where will his future in 2008. A Musical Legend Made by A Single Person (2009--2010) After graduating from college,Vae spent about half a year preparing his first personal CD. Jan 1st,2009,a CD named ‘自定义’came out. Vae did all of the work in completing the CD,incuding composing,writing,recording and so on. Even the paper used in the package was chosen by himself. The CD was sold out in Vae’s personal website in just several days. What should be paid attention to was that the CD got popular only by fans but no commercial promotion. This attracted several musical companies. However,no company dared to accept Vae’s requirement that he wanted to publish another independent CD. So,Vae refused all companies and began to prepare his second CD ‘寻雾启示’,which came out on Jun 6th,2010,and became another big success. By then,Vae had made a musical legend on his own. He Changed the Rule (2011--?) In March,2011,Vae finally got into a international musical company ‘Ocean Butterflies’. This time,the rules were changed for him that Vae was allowed to complete his third CD in the way as before while the company would be in the charge of promotion. The CD ‘苏格拉没有底’ keeps its popularity with Vae’s activities around the country. On the Internet,there is a saying that Ocean Butterflies has saved a big fortune for promoting a new singer because Vae is not a new guy. He has been popular on his own for a really long time.
