J. Kevin Barlow is Mi'kmaq from the Indian Island, New Brunswick. He is currently Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network (CAAN) based in Ottawa, Ontario.[1]

Barlow has worked in the aboriginal health field for over 20 years. He has presented his research in New Zealand, United States,[2] Mexico, and across Canada.[1] [3][4]

He has worked primarily in the HIV/AIDS sector for the past 17 years, and is Principal Investigator on a number of grants exploring cultural competence, mental health, and historical trauma. His leadership and advocacy has earned him a national award for excellence in aboriginal programming.[citation needed]
