Please help with my reference
[edit]Can you please fill out my reference at Lansing Civic Center Evangp (talk) 11:18, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
- Done I also copyedited a bit to avoid copyvio/close paraphrasing. You have to be bit careful about not copying full sentences verbatim. Have a nice summer. Regards, Iselilja (talk) 14:39, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Norwegian personalities in history
Thank you, Iselilja, for quality articles on the history and people of Norway, such as Fredrikke Marie Qvam, for creating Category:Sachsenhausen concentration camp prisoners, for supporting that "Wikipedia ought to be a fun hobby (although seriously done)", for thanks, - you are an awesome Wikipedian!
--Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:13, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, Gerda. That's much too kind. Have a lovely summer (and congrats with the gold :) Iselilja (talk) 21:44, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, but I didn't help too much with the Gold. I am pleased, of course. Our celebration was earlier today, six new articles, DYK, and pictures (last link) ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:01, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

A year and a half after you opposed my RfA
[edit]I am inviting you to leave me some feedback, 18 months after you opposed my RfA. Do you still believe I am not fit to be an admin? Do you believe I have been able to improve past the concerns you have brought up? Do not be afraid of being too harsh, I am specifically welcoming criticism as I believe it is the best way to improve and I am always looking to learn from my mistakes. I am particularly looking for feedback as to whether you have objections to myself lifting the self-imposed 1RR restriction I had agreed to towards the end of my RfA. If you don't have time to comment, don't fret it either, this is nothing I'll lose sleep over. :) ☺ · Salvidrim! · ✉ 19:48, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Perrelli
[edit]I have worked to improve the Charlotte Perrelli article today. If you can find any further improvements, that would be appreciated! :)--BabbaQ (talk) 17:16, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- Very nice, BabbaQ. I don't think there is so much for me to do; just did a minor copyedit. Regards, Iselilja (talk) 18:45, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
What do you mean writing and large bands of armed marauders, unaffiliated with the UPA, brutalized civilians? As far as I understand Burds writes about a later period, under the Soviets. Xx236 (talk) 12:51, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hello Xx236. Well, yeah say. Was it me who first inserted the sentence about the marauders? As far as I can see from the article history, my first edit to the article was to reinsert the section "Ethnic cleansing of Poles in Volhynia and Galicia" which was removed by another user. This dates back to May 2013 and I haven't been edited the article since, so I don't recall perfectly what my thinking was, but I believe I mainly reacted to the complete removal of the section (which has a sub-article), not insisting on keeping that particular sentence or any particular sentences. Colours
[edit]Pages like this give me a headache. Why can't you just use black on white. Incidentally white on black is better because it's easier, physically, on the eye. Jodosma (talk) 21:54, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, I probably should have a simpler design. I just think it's more "cozy" with a coloured page, but for reading black on white is better and clearer. I'll think about it to next update. Regards, Iselilja (talk) 22:02, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
WikiProject Elections and Referendums article tagging
[edit]Hi Iselilja. Sorry to have to post directly on your talk page, but you may have noticed (on the WP:Elections and referendums talk page) that I am trying to get all the election and referendum articles tagged for the project. Unfortunately this is not making any progress, as people are claiming there is no consensus to do this, as no-one has responded on the Project talk page. Could you possibly comment on the proposal at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Elections and Referendums#Bot to tag articles for the WikiProject, as I'm getting rather frustrated by the attitude of the people at WP:BTR. Cheers, Number 57 12:42, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
Benedicte Bjørnland
[edit]Hi Iselilja. I've been looking at some of your interresting recent articles. There seems to be some confusion about names in the Benedicte Bjørnland article. In the default sort, the name is listed as Benedicte Bjorndal and this is repeated in the persondata. I have not made any alterations as I see there is indeed a Marie Benedicte Brøndal and I am not sure if it is the same person, although I don't think it is.--Ipigott (talk) 13:03, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
- Ooops. It's probably me who has mixed up the endings - land and - dal. Her name in Bjørnland. Fixed it. Thanks. Iselilja (talk) 16:09, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, it's easy confuse these endings. Glad it's now been sorted out. On Østrup, if you are now happy with the article, you should give your approval on the nominations page. If not, you should specify what more needs to the done.--Ipigott (talk) 07:38, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hi again, Ipigott. My follow-up comment in the review may have been somewhat unclear; I still have these close paraphrasing issues which you didn't address. This is why I held off the approval; of course I would like to see the article approved. Iselilja (talk) 16:12, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
- I certainly tried to address all the comments you made. I commented specifically on one issue you called close paraphrasing (I do not think there were any others) and asked whether you really thought it necessary to undertake further paraphrasing in addition to the translation. You will see I wrote: "As for the passage which you think closely resembles the DBL account, I believe the original Dansk Bibliografisk Leksikon article is in the public domain (the Gyldendal version is just a slightly edited copy). I added the details you mention as they are certainly factually correct. Do you really think it is necessary to paraphrase them even further? Many of the Danish-language biographies in Wikipedia actually reproduce text verbatim from the DBL." So here I was expecting some kind of response from you, although I thought from you introduction you were only "nitpicking" and therefore didn't consider it important. From you remarks above, either you think it is indeed important and not just nitpicking or maybe you did not read my comments on the nomination page. I also commented on the Heidelberg passage and explained I have now given the Erindringer as the source. Maybe you think a primary source is not appropriate but I wouldn't mind betting all the other sources referring to Heidelberg have taken the information from the Erindringer too. So if you could respond on the template page to what more you would like to see enhanced, we may be able to move forward. I should perhaps also point out that I had not expected this article to be nominated for DYK although I am always happy when articles about Denmark appear on the main page. So it is not really anything I am all that concerned about. This said, I very much appreciate your interest in this article and am most grateful to you for all the other articles you have created or added to on Denmark and the Scandinavian countries.--Ipigott (talk) 20:31, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
- OK, I did see your answer about an old DBL probably being out of copyright; but I checked the linked source which is copyrighted, so I just went by that. But I can approve the article based on your explanation and then the promoter can decide. I know it's frustrating when the DYK process in itself takes up unnecessary time. Regards, Iselilja (talk) 20:50, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for going to the trouble to check things out and for giving the OK for DYK. I've also just noticed you have one of Krøyer's paintings on this page. You might be interested in looking at Skagen Painters and related articles listed in the template -- one of my favourite subjects. Please also let me know if ever I can help you out with any of your own Scandinavian interests.--Ipigott (talk) 08:05, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Østrup in DYK queue
[edit]Hi Iselilja. I was surprised to see that after all the time and trouble you spent on Johannes Østrup, the original hook has simply been maintained. See Queue 3. As the author of the article, I don't believe I am authorized to change it. If you still feel concerned about it, you might like to step in. I always find the mechanics of these things extremely difficult to handle. Otherwise just let it go ahead as it is.--Ipigott (talk) 08:38, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Ipigott. I wonder if the hook is changed, because now it seems to be the ALT3 which was a mix of your and mine suggestions, so seems fine. The only thing is that I wished the article could have had the lead hook with photo. I wouldn't have been really concerned if the first hook had been chosen. When I raise "concern" in DYK reviews, I am not always truly concerned; but I feel it's my duty as reviewer to be strict. Maybe I am a bit too much so, sometimes. I do like the summer atmosphere in the Skagen paintings. The main article (written by you, I think) is beautiful. As for me, I often have more ideas for articles (or cleaning up articles) than I get to do in practice, but hopefully I will get something done this autumn and winter. Maybe I'll see you around. Best, Iselilja (talk) 18:35, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I noted too that the hook had been corrected. Someone else must have noticed the problem. I think you are right to raise problems when you see them. Your comments on Østrup were fully justified, especially regarding the distance from Istanbul to Copenhagen. Glad you like the Skagen Painters article. The colony must be of special interest to you, given the fact that Krøyer and Krohg were from Norway. If you are interested in art, you might like to help me out early next year when I am thinking of covering women artists in connection with Women's History Month.--Ipigott (talk) 20:15, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
Iselilja, the response you requested when reviewing this DYK nomination has been made. Can you please stop by and see whether it contains the information you wanted, and whether the nomination is ready for approval? Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:39, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, I had overlooked/forgot that one. Thanks for all your work with the DYKs, BlueMoonset (talk.
Translation of article
[edit]Hi, I am about to translate the article about the Norwegian sail freight vessel "Anna Karoline":
https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C2%ABAnna_Karoline%C2%BB_(Jekt)
Do you think that could be a possible article for DYK? Ulflarsen (talk) 18:49, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I think this kind of cultural history is somewhat underrepresented in DYKs, so I think that would be a fine DYK. Remember though that for DYKs the thumb of rule is that every paragraph should have at least one inline-cited reference. I saw you had two sections currently without references, so that would have to be fixed. Just put a notice at my talk page when the article is ready and I will nominate it for you. (Nomination must currently happen within 7 days after an article is started/expanded). Regards, Iselilja (talk) 19:16, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
After help from several contributors I thought it was time to create the article, so I copied the content to Anna Karoline, thanks for your help so far! Best regards, Ulflarsen (talk) 23:15, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
If you think the article about Anna Karoline could be nominated for DYK I would be happy for that. Best regards, Ulflarsen (talk) 17:27, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, I was a bit late, Ulflarsen. Very fine article! I was a bit unsure about the hook; it is meant to be a short sentence with an interesting fact, if you have your own suggestion, I can change it or put your suggestion as an alternative hook. It can take from days to weeks before the article will be at the main page (depending on when people choose to review it). Iselilja (talk) 19:20, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
Personal attack
[edit]Please do not ever accuse me of trolling again. For someone who has spent as much time over the past 8 years writing articles and trying to get WP to work in spite of itself as I have, I find it really, really insulting when you don't AGF with me, or anyone else for that matter. Karmenu Vellak
[edit]Hi, I'm pfenech and I cannot understand why you have cited policy violations for my edit to Karmenu vella. In fact I hold that your edits are in breech of Neutral Point Of View and Verifiability principles since the edits reflected (and were referenced with) reliable news articles. Moreover the edits stayed well clear of conjecture and expressing personal opinion. When writing a biography of a public person you cannot obliterate a segment of that persons political past, even if it is somewhat uncomfortable to individuals of the same political affiliation. Such actions go against Wiki policy — Preceding undated comment added 05:27, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
Visiondirect.co.uk AfD
[edit]Hi Iselilja, I will indeed declare that I'm currently working on behalf of Visiondirect.co.uk. I'll add this to the AfD log. Apologies for not stating so earlier, but I hoped when updating the article on the 5th would sort matters. If you have any advice on making the article comply more to your satisfaction with WP:CORPDEPTH / WP:ORGIND, I would love to hear it. Many Thanks •User:Smeldridge (talk contribs) 15:53, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks. The article is well written. My problem with regard to notability is that I still there still is insufficient reliable, independent sources. Will see what the closer thinks. Regards, Iselilja (talk) 16:01, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll continue to look for and add more reliable sources from reputable news sources and journals. •User:Smeldridge (talk) 17:13, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

DYK for Emmanuel Macron
[edit]On 26 September 2014, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Emmanuel Macron, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the French Minister of Economy Emmanuel Macron was an assistant to philosopher Paul Ricœur? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Emmanuel Macron. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |
