"You Turned The Tables On Me" is a popular song composed by Louis Alter with lyrics by Sidney D. Mitchell. It was written for the 1936 film Sing, Baby, Sing, in which it was performed by Alice Faye.[1] The song was soon recorded by Benny Goodman (with vocal refrain by Helen Ward) on August 13, 1936 for Victor Records[2] and topped many charts, reaching No. 3 on Your Hit Parade in November of that year.[3] It has since been covered many times.

- Teddy Wilson and His Orchestra (with vocals by Redd Harper) recorded the song on August 24, 1936 for Brunswick Records.[4]
- The Merry Macs recorded the song in August 1946 for Majestic Records.[5]
- Ella Fitzgerald covered the song twice, first on December 23, 1947 for Decca Records, and later on July 24, 1957 for her Verve Records album Get Happy![6]
- Gene Krupa recorded the song on December 29, 1947 for Columbia Records.[7]
- Harry James and His Orchestra performed the song on the air for the CBS "Call for Music Show" on June 15, 1948, and the transcription was included on the album Harry James and His Orchestra 1948–49.[8]
- Billie Holiday recorded the song on March 26, 1952 for Mercury Records.[9]
- Oscar Peterson recorded the song twice, first on January 26, 1952 as an instrumental for Mercury Records, and later on January 31, 1957 with vocals by Anita O'Day for her Verve Records album Anita Sings the Most.[10][11][12]
- Stan Getz covered the song on December 12, 1952 for his album Stan Getz Plays, originally released in 1953 by Clef Records, and re-released in 1955 by Norgran Records.[13][14]
- Count Basie and Sarah Vaughan recorded the song together on January 10, 1961 with Roulette Records for their album Count Basie/Sarah Vaughan.[11][15]
- Margaret Whiting sang the song on her 1985 album, The Lady's In Love With You, with Audiophile Records.[16][17]
- Seth MacFarlane covered the song on his 2022 album, Blue Skies, for Verve Records and Republic Records.[18]
