Copyright violations
Please be careful when adding new content to this article that it must be phrased in your own words. Large portions of this article appear to have been copied from news sources, which is a copyright violation (and a hugely common one for timeline articles). ♠PMC♠ (talk) 23:26, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Premeditated Chaos: This seems to occur very frequently in timeline articles of ongoing news events; there's also confusion from people who think that WP:PARAPHRASE-ing is acceptable. There is a difficulty when the key info is only in a single sentence or two, but even in that case, a "summary" in plain language, without newsy speak, is always possible, and quotes can be used if needed. News-event timeline pages would be good to get attention from page patrollers - if anyone's interested in that sort of patrolling... Boud (talk) 14:20, 14 December 2022 (UTC)
Scope?
This article was initially primarily about actual protests that were taking place, but in the January entries, there have been no protests recorded. Instead, there is news about a person being arrested for a meme recipe and the remarks of Khamenei. I think that a review of the scope of this article is needed. The meme recipe guy was not arrested during a protest, and it raises to question of whether every event in Iran that is reported on by media should be included in this article, simply because of some proximity to the "protests" that are said to be taking place. For example, the 22 December entry is simply a note of that day's currency exchange rate. Why is it included in the article? Should we have every day of the article list a currency exchange rate for that day?
I think that this article's scope should be narrowed down to actual protests, and not random happenings/arrests in Iran. JasonMacker (talk) 16:58, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- Timeline articles frequently turn into hoarder houses of every news article that came out on the topic in the area - you should see the COVID ones. I think you should be bold and aggressively trim anything you feel is off-scope. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 17:38, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and done that. A whole lot of this "timeline of protests" were foreign outlets or analysts just saying things about the protests. If someone wants to add something I've deleted back in, please discuss it here. I've also left some stuff that I considered removing but wanted a discussion here first. I've left some of the UN's internal politics in the article, although I considered removing those as well. JasonMacker (talk) 21:42, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- Damn, you don't waste time. I love it. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 21:49, 6 January 2023 (UTC)

So once again, the timeline has been filled with fluff. Why exactly is Kirsten Stewart calling for regime change noted in this article?
In 2023, this article lists 4 protests, one of which is outside of Iran. As a timeline of protests, this article should focus on actual protests, and not the opinions of foreign pop stars.
I'll be purging the article again soon. JasonMacker (talk) 17:26, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
- @JasonMacker I am interested in the timeline, checking it maybe once a day to see if there is any update, basically because I object to somebody being murdered for a hijab. If somebody is murdered for a piece of clothing it says there's something wrong with the political system that does that. So for me, yes I know the heading says protests, but this is the only timeline I find on the topic of the Iranian resistance against religious gangsterism. I didn't know who Kirsten Stewart was before I looked her up on Wikipedia, but reading that entry shows me somebody cares enough about those people to speak up for them; if the article could somehow be relayed back to Iran then those people can know that somebody spoke up for them; the sacrifice of those hanged from cranes didn't go unnoticed. Apparently I should put four tildes here. Dirksmit (talk) 12:42, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
