Current Major Projects

Plants and Nature

I'm not a botanist, I'm a psychologist so I'm not a professional I just think plants and nature are kinda neat.

Plant Conservation Status

My current big project is adding conservation statuses to plant articles. After I complete get this going at a nice pace I place to start including range maps. I've started working with the Nature Conservancy conservation classification system and since they have a lot of entries for North America I've started this project with plants in North America. I've created a category with plants that do not have a TNC conservation status and this will be my starting point for articles to improve. In this category I've also included plants from Hawaii and a few other Pacific islands so the current category is mostly but not exclusive North American plants. Part of this project includes a bot I've written and when it gets approved this whole process should move a lot faster.

Plant Photos

When I get some time I also want to work on getting images off of iNaturalist for plant articles without photos. This isn't easy as iNaturalist has a lot of great photos they are by default licensed CC BY-NC-SA which doesn't really mesh with Wikipedia.

Sierra Backcountry

When I'm tired of working with plant data I work on articles about the Sierra Nevada backcountry and am slowly working to improve and expand the articles in these wilderness areas. There is a lot of interesting history and science that has happened out there and I really enjoy finding old government reports and scientific papers documenting these areas.
