Date of birth
Her obituary says she was born in 1924, and doesn't give a day and month. It says she moved to the US with her family in 1925.[1] The Continuum Encyclopedia of Children's Literature says she was born on 9 December 1928, and moved to the US in 1929.[2] No way of telling from the info I have which is correct. Have gone with the earlier date as presumably her family would have seen the obit and could have corrected the date if necessary, so it seems more likely to be correct.
