FC MIKA (Armenian: Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ Միկա Երեւան) is an Armenian football team, playing in the capital, Yerevan.
History
MIKA was originally founded as "Olimpia." It was established in 1982 in the city of Artashat, but was moved to Ashtarak in 1985. Between the years of 1987-1990, the club did not participate in the Soviet championship. However in 1990, right before the beginning of the first Armenian Premier League season, the club re-emerged and went by the name "Kasakh." It was forced to default from the league in 1996, but returned in 1999 under a new sponsor, the owner of Armavia Airlines, Mikhail Baghdasarov. Under their new management, the club was once again renamed. This began the new era of FC MIKA Ashtarak.
The club is currently building its own stadium in the heart of Yerevan, which is why MIKA will soon be known as FC MIKA Yerevan, rather than Ashtarak. It has won 5 Armenian Cups since its foundation in 1982 and is considered to be one of Armenia's top teams.
MIKA appointed Arkady Andreasyan as their new manager on May 24, 2007.[1] FC Mika and Club Atlético Morelia share similar logos, although this may just be a coincidence.
