The Perm nightclub explosion was an explosion that went off in the Khromaya Loshad' (Russian: Хромая лошадь, meaning the "Lame Horse") nightclub on Kuybyshev Street in Perm, Russia. It killed more than 100 people, and injured 160 others attending the nightclub, which was celebrating its eighth anniversary. Officials blamed it on the use of fireworks meant for outdoors.[1]
According to an emergency services spokesman, most victims died from smoke inhalation.[2] An Ilyushin Il-76 transported 20 of the most severely injured victims to hospitals in Moscow, which eventually expect to receive up to 55 such patients.[1]
In Perm, a hotline has been established for residents seeking information about anyone they know who might have been killed or injured.[1]
