The Deccan Archaeological and Cultural Research Institute is a Non-Profit organisation operating in Deccan region, India registered under Act 2 of 1882 Indian Trust ACT . It is a non-profit membership organisation dedicated to conservation and preservation of India’s natural, cultural, living, tangible and intangible heritage. It is going all out to bulwark and preserve the cultural legacy of India, conserving the natural heritage by undertaking obligatory actions and measures, documenting unprotected buildings of archaeological, architectural, historical and aesthetic significance and cultural resources.[1][2]
History
DACRI was founded in 2009 in Hyderabad with the vision to promote historical and cultural research among the people of the Deccan with a wide research and learning experience. Since 2009, DACRI has pioneered the conservation, protection and promotion of cultural heritage and monumental grandeur of Deccan region. Its original members included Lawyers, poets, doctors, historians and other professionals and community members.
Overview
In 2012, members of Deccan Archaeological and Cultural Research Institute (DACRI) and other archeologists and historians have discovered a series of 20 megalithic burial cairn circles dating to 1,000 B.C on a hillock in Madugala village in Mahbubnagar district, India. The team also discovered a huge Satavahana site in an extent of 100 acres datable to 1st century B.C to 2nd Century A.D.[3]
