Wikimedia México is a chapter of the Wikimedia Foundation in Mexico, in order to spread and promote Wikipedia and its projects in that country. Chapters are local organizations of Wikipedians and other people who are very interested in Wikimedia projects to diffuse free knowledge and information by means of them.

The formation of Wikipedia Mexico was approved on 3 August 2011. See Wikimedia México's page on Meta (in Spanish).
