Language

[edit]

The Albanian language is designated as the official language of Albania.

  • Albanian is classified within the Indo-European language family and is notable for its distinct dialectal divisions, primarily Gheg and Tosk. These dialects reflect the geographical and cultural diversity of the country, with Gheg predominantly spoken in the northern regions and Tosk in the south. The Shkumbin serves as a rough dividing line between these two dialects, which exhibit considerable differences in phonetics, vocabulary, and grammar. The standard form of Albanian, which is used in official contexts, has been developed through the merging of these dialects, although it is primarily based on the Tosk dialect.

Religion

[edit]

The religious composition of Albania is characterised by a diverse array of beliefs and practices.
