Summary

Description

The Ford Sierra RS Cosworth was a high-performance version of the Ford Sierra. It was the result of a Ford Motorsport project with the purpose of producing an outright winner for Group A racing in Europe. Launched in July 1986, and 5545 were manufactured in total, of which 500 were sent to Tickford for conversion to the Sierra three-door RS500 Cosworth.

Not only did the car do well in Touring car racing and Rallying in Europe, but in Australia won the Touring Car championship and Bathurst in 1988 and 1989. This is the car that won in 1988, driven by Tony Longhurst and Tomas Mezera. These Sierras filled the first three places at Bathurst and also the first three places in the Touring Car Championship in 1988.
