DescriptionCollege and Apartments - geograph.org.uk - 37171.jpg
English: College and Apartments. The building in the foreground was originally the privately owned Huddersfield College which was opened in New North Road in 1838. It was closed in 1893 and then re-opened by the School Board on June 14th, 1894 as a Higher Grade School. In the latter part of the 20th Century it housed several local secondary schools whilst their new premises were built. It is now an annexe of Huddersfield Technical College.
The building on the left of the picture; Highfields Court, was originally the Highfields Congregational Church. After the union of the Congregational and Presbyterian Churches the building became redundant and stood empty for some time before undergoing a complete internal restructuring for conversion to apartments for residential use.
