Description
English: The image comes from an illuminated manuscript of the Maqamat by Al-Hariri (1054-1122), painted in Iraq in the style of the Baghdad School by Yahya ibn Mahmud al-Wasiti. The manuscript was completed in 1237. Note that this is not a picture of Ibn Battuta (1304 – 1368/1369) who was born more than 70 years after the picture was painted.
